ugly gamelike demo, get a proper 3d artist and musician!
sucks added on the 2002-12-15 18:40:50 by robotriot robotriot
Substitue 'gamelike' with '3d player' and you're catching it dead on rights. Oddly enough, there's a couple of not-yet-oldskool elements and graphics in here, pretty weird (and not really successful) mix.

except the loading screen, it's ugly

You know your demo is in trouble when your setup screen and the infofile are way cooler than the demo itself...
The music was very low quality and the scenes too 3dplayerish for my taste. There were a couple of nice effects though.

Not very sophisticated, but looks like a honest attempt to me.

for the win98 thing, nobody use this os nowaday, install wink2k or XP, where we can found someone with a 98 we can make some tests...

btw this demo don't works on DOS too =)

VERY bad excuse. Really. Stuff like this should run a bloody windows95 box.

I couldn't run this either. The start-up window looked like Gargaj's image above. But I thought perhaps this was because I use 'large fonts' as default. (This screws up all of Anaconda's start-up windows.) So I went to normal fonts and rebooted.

Still the start-up window was screwed, but I could see a little more, such as the top row of pixels on a scroller. And when I arbitrarily clicked on the lower right-hand corner, the demo started.

It's sort of strange. Some parts look polished, but most look like a first effort. There is absolutely no originality as everything seems like a collection of 'cheese' effects. (The music exemplifies this to the nth degree.)

Still, it's not horrible, just not memorable.
Nice design for text stuff
Nice credits (:

why do people waste their talents on crap like this?
sucks added on the 2002-12-16 07:48:19 by irvin irvin
I'm really not the one to rant here, but opening your window as WS_POPUP solves the whole damn problem!

Read this article if you're absolutely clueless.

not bot at all. what is it with frenchos and demos that look like a 4th place entry of a 1996 party?
sucks added on the 2002-12-16 13:16:51 by skrebbel skrebbel
Ok, next time, we will run a demo without "loader", no resolutions choice & fullscreen option, like some demos presented ...
...So we'll haven't problems with this kind of bugs.

Btw, I don't think that ppl still use Win95/W98, these OS aren't selling anymore (at least in France) since a long time.

Another Point:
We done this demo for fun. It take us long time to finish this demo before the deadline.
And I when read some comments here, I'm not really motived to fix this problem.

Do you (Win98 users) see an ''uggly'', ''crap'', ''Lame music'', ''gamelike'' , ''3d player'', ''no originality'' demo ?

We are NOT ''professional'' people !, tu vois quoi ... (dixit Z / nOmad).
added on the 2002-12-16 14:31:21 by cyb0rg cyb0rg
like thom "it's not horrible, just not memorable", true. good rendering 3d engine, 'hard to make' 3dscenes but not interesting demo in final.
you have the engine and skills to make a good prod, try to make an interesting story or use inspirated music...

i use w98 and wMe, i boycott Spy OS like w2k and wxp, it's my choice, i want to keep my private life out of the M$ databases, and if you dont want to be compatible to w98, i respect you. you just miss more audience people for your artwork.
next time, simply add some os and harware informations in the NFO.
nice effects, nice speed, nice design guys it RULEZ, I love it :D

good demo, your last production was better, and you have a really good 3d engine, you can make better!

The funny thing about this demo is the gfx, they look like 1990 amiga games and that's not necessarily bad, it's just weird... The music is not very original and lacks a feeling, the 3d/effects were ok, I especially liked the fire effects and the fake lights.

Did I mention that it is better than their last demo?

On the Win98 thing, you could say that this demo requires an operating system in order to run (how I love to say that!)

added on the 2002-12-17 03:14:20 by moT moT
looks nice enough and shows effort, unlike most demos i watch lately (even if effects are not up to the "standard"), thus, thumb up

thumb up to deathless for finaly moved cyborg's ass ! ;)

Oh shut up everybody who thumb this thing down and call it crap etc. You have small penises and are totally stupid and probably can't do shit yourselves anyway so shut up.

The engine (there are no 2D effects at all) looks nice and able, but on my p3/450+GF2 it was rather slow (too cpu intensive?), the graphics aren't top knotch but better than most, although the textures are ugly. The music is cheesy and outdated, but the quality isn't bad. People wouldn't bitch about it if it where released 5 years ago.

In all a demo wich show something most demos these days lack: EFFORT! A lot of work has gone into it and all you assholes putting it down should fuck off and respect the amount of work that has gone into this production.

So a big thumbs up and respect for a lot of time and effort put into this demo. Now go and add some 2D effects, better textures and more up to date music and perhaps your next demo will be a winner
rulez added on the 2002-12-17 13:39:02 by Inopia Inopia
there's some nice visuals here, the music is just too damn awful, so a piggy

and effort doesnt make a demo good
Good job guys. Ignorre all the zealots uphere who can't even tell the difference between a vector and a matrix. I guess most of em didnt even notice some of the fx you added in the demo because they are so ignorant to think "3d scene == player == BAAAD"

well, from all those who posted shit like this.... i am waiting for a better demo from you .... and it better be without 3D scenes!!

Keep up the work and your next prod might be a killer
rulez added on the 2002-12-17 13:55:03 by ir ir
i don't like that goa music.

ok seriously, that tune sucks pretty hard... sounds like an age old never-released 64k mod that someone found in the back of his amiga floppy box.

but the rest contains a few really nice parts. the credit tree, for example. or the robot. in the scene where it is being assembled, i thought, they're probably gonna forget about for in the rest of the demo and kill just another promising story line. but behold, the robot appeared again, and it walked and fired.

Hey, hey! Thanx Gargaj for the links. I definitelly wanted to find how to do these cool alternative window menus we get used to see in demos in chipmusicdisks lately!

my point wasn't that this demo is GOOD because a lot of effort was put into it, my point was that you can't just put something down because it's no lapsus/mature furk.
added on the 2002-12-17 23:10:05 by Inopia Inopia
he, some really nice parts in there. You boys are on the good way, keep it up!

Same style as their first, fast techno music and smooth 3d scenes with robots, spaceships, etc. I enjoyed it. Like the oldschool pixel gfx used..
rulez added on the 2002-12-18 12:03:03 by Optimus Optimus
OK, new review, since the 'fixed' version managed to show me _all_ scenes, instead of the original which repeated the scene with the long cylinders over and over till the end.

Bad points:
- Screwed alphamaps at some trees/particles
- Yucky music
- Not-so-good camera movements
- Design is a bit edgy

Good points:
- Somehow the coder felt guilty and fixed that damn bug :)
- Some damn nice modelling+textures
- Nice still pictures
- Huge thumbs up for the effort

So overall a good demo.
Advice: fix your GUI-codes, there are some real nasty bugs there.
