promising, but not a rulez.
And is it only my junkpile, or you also have slowdowns and momentary stops in the city scene and after?
added on the 2002-07-08 21:00:56 by FooLman FooLman
reasons behind a thumb down:

- ugly colourscheme
- wretched texturing
- lack of contrast
- spasmodic cityscene
- soundtrack (too poppy for me, nothing wrong technically)

high quality 3d scenes modeling and textures
but the overal design dont make it a top prod
some freeze of the action on black screen between differents parts are bad because it cut the action
overal concept is boring, follow a space-car in different worlds are not interesting for me
the 3d engine seems to be very good, we wait the next deathless production
It's the "real" first demo on Windows for us.
For the freeze sorry , but it's a Party version (and final ..:)) and it's working without freeze on Strong computer (GF4 , 1400Mhz+) ... maybe with more time, we could also fix some slowdown etc on your poor computer :), but finished the prod before the deadline take us a load of time.

For the textures, yes we know, there're lame and streched, ugly ... we will working on that next time.

PS: please upgrade your computers, atari/amiga optimisation code are so far :))))

I didn't really like the music or the greetings part. Some scenes were cool.

Hm, looks partly quite nice, but it lacks the atmosphere. Sound is ok for me.

talking about strong computors - my trusty 18 years old C=64 springs to mind

0.9something mhz that is

May the porto be with you !

hehe, I haven't money to give, sorry :)

C64 roxx, but i'm not sure , this demo working fine on it ... You should try and send me a feedback :)

nice 3ds (or whatever) player but terribly ugly gfx, a bit too primitive 3d scenes, mediocre music and self-voting sucks anyway
sucks added on the 2002-07-09 10:41:52 by raymon raymon
Self-Voting, yeah ok, i have for myself, and other of my team too .... Ho yeah 3 voices ... great ... but it will be no change the classement, the 3d scene, the textures, etc ...., if we haven't voted ourself for this prod.

After more 48h without sleep (and more before the party), to work on our demo, we're finally attached to it and like it , love it, because it's our baby , and everybody must like her baby (or maybe you're a bad daddy... shame on you ...:))

By the way , I really Ghent's music, it's my taste, and I force nobody to like it of course.

Ok, we must do better next time.

ToDo list:
- Best Synchro and fix slowdown on poor machine
- Change the lame textures
- Make more detailed 3D-World
- Add some features to our 3d engine
- Stop Drink (and smoke for our main Coder :))
- ...

it´s ok. nice lightning.
added on the 2002-07-09 12:18:12 by diver diver
This is a typical "let me show you my 3d-engine" demo". The 3d engine is nice, but sadly this demo has no new ideas and design is bad. It`s an ok demo.
added on the 2002-07-09 19:11:20 by Wain Wain
The demo is provided in codercolors(TM)
But the music gives somehow a reason to it.

this demo was coded using Blitz Basic

not a horrible demo, but left a lot of things to be desired
added on the 2002-07-10 10:49:54 by cats cats
A 3D-scene that is not going round and around brainless. I liked it, especially for a first demo.
rulez added on the 2002-07-10 11:30:58 by willbe willbe
the visuals sometimes simply don't fit, but it has already said.
the code seems to be quite good, so i wait for the next prod, can't say if it rulez or sucks, i'll judge with the next prod :)

Call me crazy, but I like the colors (typical) and I loved the font, although the scroller could be somewhat faster. The streched textures are not nice. First music is so-so, the second is quite good. The engine seems solid. Kudos for the loader with the chiptune! :-) It does however need 250megs to run (all to itself, that is...)

It's not a masterpiece but, especially for a first demo this is quite solid.

lots of somewhat childish-looking 3d with weird colors.. quite typical "first time attempt at an epic 3d story". not much to write home about, but an okay debut I'd say.

managed to crash my machine with a bluescreen (w2k, gef3, latest dev detonators, 650ram) which no other app ever managed here :)
if it was done in Blitz it's bound to suck, though :P

surprising, i can even launch it on a p3/800 and a TNT 1 and 256Mb (it's slow but working).

And it's working on all win2k/winXP i see, maybe you're not lucky, or that your hard is unstable :)

try to let some free space to unpack files on your harddisk.

good demo :) nothing too bad to say ;)
cyb thanks for our gfx ; ) and thats all.

I wish I could put this on the front page of pouet.net - If the primary tool for your demo is going to be 3D STUDIO, why not just render the ferkin thing as an AVI, have amazing quality and perhaps even smaller file size if you render it using the divx codec. Sure that demo was kinda cool.. but I could create it all in 3d Studio and make a movie out of it! Oh well.. just seems pointless to me.
added on the 2002-07-14 03:41:58 by XteNt XteNt
Stop watching XXX Divx Movies and back into real time ... and we use mp3 not wav in our demo (if you see what I mean ...:))

back to real time? the greetings-part crawls on my AMD Athlon XP1800+, 512MB DDR.. =p

nothing special though.. doesn't look that good, it lacks that "feeling".. didn't really like it, but it doesn't suck. try again =)

but one thing, it's damn big. 17.4 MB uncompressed. that's too much, at least for an "ok" production.

a small thumb up for the loader, however =) it was cute..
added on the 2002-07-14 15:15:30 by fox fox
The loader was better than the demo, sadly. Some parts (including the end scroller!) is slow as hell on Duron800 & GeForce2Pro. Well there were some nice parts, the music is okay but starts repeating itself and the 3D ship (train?) is quite nice looking. 2D graphicians definetly need more practise. But nice to see another group with the initals DTS.. as in Details... Deathless.. ;)

some slow down on my computer ( athlon 1Ghz + gf2 GTS ) but a quite nice demo for a beginning
just continue this way ;)

You should say, only the first scene was slow on your computer (the only one are fast on my p3/800 + tnt1 :))

added on the 2002-07-16 23:44:24 by cyb0rg cyb0rg
That demo runs decently on my machine (celeron 633 + g2mx), except the greetings parts that is really suffering.

Except this, I consider there is a lot more interesing work involved in this demo than in "introducing extensive strudios" that got the first place at the VIP4.

What about releasing a joint demo ? You made the design, and they give their engine...

Very nice atmosphere! Well done!

(some scenes are really buggy on my box though)
rulez added on the 2002-07-21 01:03:01 by cyraxx cyraxx
Well, I dunno. It definately felt like it lacked something. If the music had a little more energy and you dabbed some layered effects into there it would have been more enjoyable I think.

Despite that, it was really nice. I even got some inspiration out of it so a thumbs up from me.
rulez added on the 2002-07-21 01:34:40 by cloaked cloaked
it's slow as hell on my G450 (as if it ran ANY 3d demo fluently... *sigh*), but i like the style.
added on the 2002-07-21 02:38:33 by jazzman jazzman
Enjoyable. The scenes had some style to the design, well presented, textures looked good, original (non-ripped) music, and nicely paced with an attempt or two at transitions. Too bad about the jerky framerate for the credits section.
