Thumb up to Dom / Replicants for being a pioneer with this demotool on Atari.

erratum: main code by Jinx, not Dom, although Dom was also involved in this.

thanx Jace & Cooper for confirming it ;)

Hmmm, I have mixed memories about DCK. I would have put "sucks" if it was not only a personal mater with the author.

Typicaly, I helped the author during the Transbeauce 2 demo party to stabilize his low border code that was totaly crappy and unstable, and some other people at this party helped solve some other glitches here and there, but no one was greated anywhere in the final product.

Among the other problems, is the fact that the second floppy of the DCK is full of pictures, musics, and fonts that has been used without any authorization. This includes a big green dragon head I've been pixelizing:

When I told him about this later, he just tell me that I should be proud that he actually put my graphics in the DCK :-/

DCK was great in its time. Alas all the prods made with it looked alike.

Dbug: I don't know the name of the members of the Replicants, but your story goes a bit in the way of what happen to me at the Gigafun party.

We ( the members of ribbon ) leaved the party few hours to have dinner or was it to play LAZER with the members of Adrenaline & co. When we came back, there was a guy from The Replicants on my computer, lurking the files on my hard drive. If he had asked me, I'd have answer with pleasure, but he didn't.

So my feeling about the Replicants are mixed. On one hand I respect their contribution to the Atari scene, but on the other hand I have a bad feeling about them as individuals. : \

not as fun as coding something yourself but not everybody could learn assembly by then, and it allowed kids to express their creativity even without knowing how to 68000
