Oh, yes... It's the (in)famous C64-doom clone. The game was never really finished, so it's just a preview.

It's not really fair to call it a "Doom clone" when it's a lot closer to Wolfenstein 3D. Oh well. I was impressed the first time I played it, but I have to chuckle at those 20-pixel baddies. :)

BTW, that screenshot looks like it's different/newer than the previews. Is there a newer version available?

@phoenix: Even the coders call it a "doom clone" :) And since Doom is an universal metaphor for old-school 3d-shooters...

About the versions: There are IIRC 2 preview versions, plus a cracked version of the second preview. The 2nd preview is from August 1998.
