"Hugi Special Edition #2: Hugibox volume 1" is a music disk with a selection of 30 tunes from the first 30 issues of Hugi Magazine. For the first time, Panorama (the engine of Hugi, coded by Chris Dragan) is used for a music disk interface. The idea to make this music disk came from LoneStar of Hugi. He also created the graphics. Adok selected the thirty songs and assembled this Special Edition. The total playback duration of this music disk is 2 hours.

If you would like to submit your own tunes for a future issue of Hugi, simply send them to Adok: cdvolko@gmx.net

fuckings to you for putting one of my tunes on it without asking permission or even so much as mentioning it to me (or even putting musician credits in the info file).

lamers.

Doesn't remind me of old Hugi issues. In fact I think Hugi has issues.

I for one, like the idea of having a compilation like this.
Two problems though: My favourite background tune (from the hugi 18 preview, I believe) is missing and the lackluster presentation is a no-go.

I actually like the idea of this compilation, and I do not really care about the graphics, it is playing music so why should I look at it?

About the permission, didn't you gave permission some years ago already?

DAMN U GARGAJ YOU STOLE MY JOKE!!! :P anyway, anything labeled with Hugi sux.. and just releasing stuff without approval is very bad...so thumb down :P

if you give your permission for a song to be used for an issue, ok, but i guess the musicians didnt give permission to do whatever Adok would want with their songs right, like this musicdisk?
sucks added on the 2005-02-22 16:53:23 by post malone post malone
There are many good tunes in it, so I won't thumb it down. I guess it's still lame to use them without permission, but personally I'm a bit inclined to think that if you've given a tune to hugi, it's not can be used in hugi-related projects.

But unfortunately, as a music disk, I don't think it works. The diskmag interface might be good for diskmags, but as this is a musicdisk, it would be nice to know which of the tunes is playing, how long it is, the song position, probably mod player data (notes etc) and most of all, have some entertainment on it.

Piggie.

When submitting contributions, people give permission for use of their contributions in Hugi, not just in a particular issue.
added on the 2005-02-22 17:24:45 by Adok Adok
they contribute to the MAG, not to whatever you'd might come up with later.. for such things asking permission or at least give a sorta notifier would be a quite common thing to do imho.
Where are the articles?

normally i wouldnt be so bothered about a throwaway tune, but adok's arrogance just irritates me incredibly much that i didnt want to be associated with any hugi crap again.

it's not just a common thing to do to ask permission to reuse something, it's a basic polite and common sense thing to do whether you know anything about scene etiquette or not (i.e. you'd have to have the social skills of a complete fuckwit to miss it).
of course, if you're just some asshole trying to boost your own fame off the back of other's work, then perhaps asking permission is a bad idea.

also, most people, when told that somebody was unhappy with how their work was used, would be at least a bit apologetic about it, rather than reacting with your characteristic pathetic arrogance shown here.

adok, remember: in the scene, people's creative work is the most important thing. they own it, and they always choose how it should be used - i.e. you ask permission. whether it's gfx for a demo or music for a diskmag or whatever, the author has direct control over how and when the work is used. i'd expect even someone from my own demogroup, who i actually like, to ask permission before using one of my old tunes in a prod.
if i remember, i did that track for hugi 11 because you asked me to directly, and it was intended only for that. you act like you paid for the work, or else that i should somehow be desperately grateful for it's inclusion in hugi. in reality, you should be incredibly grateful for anyone who took the time to contribute something, and treat it with the utmost respect, especially if it's deemed good enough to actually use.

finally if i had actually been asked whether i wanted my tune in this, i'd have said "no". which is preeetty much the acid test of whether it was right to use it, isnt it.

I vote for JosSs as greatest musician ever.

adok is a masochist. He loves to get kicked like a ragdoll and seek all the means to please himself.

Sorry, but it goes without saying that you should ask the permission of the author ( unless he's out of business and wouldn't care ) when you want to use or re-use a creation.

I know the scene is not real business, but when you give the permission to use your work, it's limited to a given context and period time.

Not asking for permission is low, just because someone have given you the permission to use a tune once doesn't automatically mean you can use it again.

I have to thumb this down in support for the Artist having the decision of where his tune is used. I believe the term 'ripping is lame' may come into play here. This is just another way of ripping. Would it matter at all? Not if the musicians didn't care. In this case, hoo boy does the musician care. Mass thumbage down for dissing the musicians involved.
I feel bad for Adok.

The idea per se is a nice one and the tracks I've listened to till now are definitely good.
Granted, not asking the authors wheter it's ok to re-release the tunes in a separate hugi-special issue feels a bit fishy but in my opinion it's definitely not as rude as just taking *some* tune grabbed from somewhere.

it's not just about re-releasing - ok, it happened, some will care, some won't. it's arguable whether it's ethical.

my main point of annoyance is, as smash mentioned, that if the author is NOT happy about what you did and he has a reason to do, then telling him to fuck off is definetely not the high road...

Well, as for the permission thingy, I don't see what's the fuzz about... however, credits are rightfully expected.
I give a thumbs down for this crap graphics anyway. Regardless of being a musicdisk, no release is supposed to contain something that makes me throwing up.

Adok is releasing one crap incarnation of hugi after another. How about a turkish translation? Or even a dutch one?

Is this some kind of lame attention whoring? Does he thrive on negative feedback? Seems so...

added on the 2005-02-24 09:00:46 by Stelthzje Stelthzje
Ignoring the politics and focusing entirely on the production as a music disk, we have a good collection of tunes coupled with a poorly designed interface. Under normal situations, this combination would give a hesitant thumbs up. In this case, however, the tunes are already stale from hearing them while reading Hugi. The only new content is the interface, which works poorly as a music disk. So, piggie.

Or perhaps he just doesnt give a shit about the selfproclaimed 1337ness of certain pouet.net trol...users. The whole spectacle about this and about adok has lowered pouet even beyond anything bad that I can come up with.

wtf, is you problem with adok anyway? assholes.

the scene isn't dead, adok just smells like it

I'd like too see a decent again diskmag thouigh. Maybe pouet can host party reports, or real 'best %s' polls (based on voting, not just #views/thumbs.

Or we could all just get drunk at breakpoint.

ripping is art, so no problem about that.

but, a musicdisk with tunes already released and a very bad interface. - no thanks.

so a serious thumb down for a bad production.
