i hate those damn boring 3d shows. realtech were the first who produced them again and again and again....

maybe, but it was cool to use svga (640x480x8)

Yeah, they were the first to go hi-res. It really beat the hell out of your 486 back in those days, but even then it was a total bore from beginning to end.

Yes,. object shows! Only 3d can be boring some times. (Why not 2d?)
But I like them.. (Well almost,. it depents ;)

I liked all the object shows from Realtech and they had also nice music too as I remember.. (And of course new tech like high resolutions or antialiasing!)

There's a screenshot for you. It gives you a good idea of what most of the demo is like :). Object up top, fancy-sounding name on the bottom, photoshop twirl pic in the background. But it was a milestone for being in 640x480 (ooh, ahh). The fast paced music kept it from being as boring as, say, Zweilight Zone. The end tune is nice too. The pictured ship part went slow as hell on a 486, so try it on your current PC if you haven't seen it at full speed. :)

I think it was decent on my last computer tho (pentium 100)... anyways.. cool demo and nice sound..

Btw. "Psychad" ripped one of the tunes (end tune i think) to his multichand contribution at Remedy 2k1 placed 4th in the compo ;p

bah, the first who used hires....
ofcourse routines were quite good, but the demos (espacially THIS one) were damn boring. anyone saw design?
this was one of the first fast(er) hires demos and one of the first boring 3d showa. i can live without one of this.

Pigpen, that's what demos were about: code, please evaluate this demo in its context.

I never liked their demos anyhow.

demos are about artistic code not code wanking :)
sucks added on the 2001-09-09 10:28:03 by _-_-__ _-_-__
yeah, call me crazy, but I actually like this demo. I've watched it countless times, and really don't find it that boring. I don't really know why though, 'cause it's definately not the design.. probably the music... I like it...
rulez added on the 2001-09-19 23:11:23 by fractalgp fractalgp
five times more pixels, five times less frames. there's no more wanking in this than in stars (or just about any other well coded demo at the time).

mac oh i'd really like to see you arguing your point with graphicians or a sounder

Object shows rules =)

well, this was already a demo in 1995, but I quite happy (i'm the coder of this demo btw) that it still runs on nowadays PC with too much problem. hi-res rules, 3d too, perhaps i will think of a new sequel of this demo one day

Kind of boring, but it was cool at the time. Especially the high resolution.

for tricks to make it run under newest PCs :)

The resolution was amazing at the time. I recall having a friend going mad over the phone while watching it, so I went to c him and this prodt quite soon after ;)

ah, i remember this. in true realtech-style but with a smathing resolution for the time. :) hey execom, nice to see you're still around.
rulez added on the 2003-03-26 14:30:47 by gloom gloom
OMG it has high resolution and it doesn't run on my 486!! :) One of the few 3d-rotators that I liked back in the day. Wasn't this the one with the blurb "GAH! Color!"?

works like a charm in dosbox, 640x480.. preferable to the windows "port".

Another "damn boring" 3D show from realtech, but enjoyed by a nice music and a good rythm! As always, the multi-high-resolution shading was very impressive back in the days. Very nice coding from execom!
