Yes, if you're implementing the display driver. I meant on the application side, where I don't think subpixels in e.g. a diamond-shaped layout are individually addressable.

Blueberry: I remember people getting OCS ones after 1990, and I didn't see many ECS ones overall. Anecdotal for sure, but it seems strange to claim ECS was the most common without numbers.
