I'd download one gig if it was a good effect. -
I wouldn't. -
To reiterate the point: there are no 1 GB demos. The argument is invalid. There should be no bitching about 50 or 100 or 150 MB for a demo these days. -
gloom: I dunno; I personally feel pretty icky downloading and running a prod that's larger than the "equivalent" video :) -
gigademo? -
What Ferris said. -
ferris: so we should use the codec efficiency as a metric for downloadability? -
in the case where watching it on youtube is both more convenient AND bandwidth-efficient, well, you be the judge :P -
ferris: is that an artefact-free 1080p60 video or youtube? (Or, if you don't spend your entire salary on hardware, 640p20 ;) -
personally i wonder why it is that on every platform it's accepted to have a very large disksize - memory ratio .. except on pc. why isnt a pc demo allowed to contain graphics etc that use even 10% of the available vram without being forced to generate them? (for example) -
no, it's not :) But "to reiterate:" it just feels icky :D -
ferris: ..and how many re-watches does it take before that artifact-ridden video starts messing up your bandwidth accounting? :) -
dunno, I'd probably download it by then :P -
Fair enough :) Anyway: it annoys me that people complain about 50 or 100 MB for a demo download, that is all. -

Perhaps it's more that a good percentage of the 100MB demos don't really look way better than the 10MB ones. -
"it annoys me that people complain." fixed it for you. -
wtf.. there are demos bigger than a 100mb in size?? they must be awesome! -
says his life sucks. do notin bout it.peoplez -
kb: what about the percentage of 10mb demos that don't really look way better than the 64ks? :) -
look ma, now they all see me trollin -
smash: ~10mb is right in the ballpark of "didn't size optimize, used ogg music and some image/model files" which is a perfectly fine way of demomaking. I guess with 100mb people expect content (as in AAA games). Which of course is ridiculous. :) -
kb: 10mb doesnt even cover the soundtrack these days what with these musicians with their big ideas about bitrate :) -
I'd rather have WAV -
that sounds WAV too big!!
