If you buy a console you should be able to do whatever the fuck you want with it -- including reverse engineering the damn thing -- fuck sony. - "should", yes. But unfortunately sony put so many clauses into fine print, you way as well not even use it.

sony dont give a shit about you reversing your system in privacy. they care about someone releasing keys over the worldwide web which will be used by countless pirates. i think. - So if I reverse the keys in private and sell my own homebrew games Sony wouldn't care?

On the other hand, sony have the right to sell you stuff with terms attached if they want. If you didn't agree with those terms why did you buy it? (Doesn't excuse dropping other OS of course :) -
ahahha,, yeah Dreamcast. Probably the one console that would've been most resilient to piracy if it hadn't been for the management/marketing making technical desicions making it the most vulnerable. -
