- I think the question is more: why are PC intros not 40k? Afaik, Amiga intros have always been 40k, even before I saw any PC intros (and the first ones were 100k?) Could have something to do with the extra code required for video/sound support on PC... No
- 68k instructions are 2 bytes at least, 386 1 byte. When size-optimizing, x86 should have a slight advantage, although 68k has some clever addressing modes that could save instructions sometimes.
- Oh, and the "... No" there was actually supposed to mean "No, I'm not Optimus", regarding the length of the line :)
- It's quite simple why Amiga doesn't have 256 byte demos... DOS is the only OS I know that's still being used, which supports raw binaries... Amiga requires headers, so it's probably impossible to do anything in 256 bytes, much like in Windows.
