- I have just set up a 386dx40, watching old demos all day and testing how slow this thing was..

- 386 seems soooo slow... It seems that I only have 8 cycles per pixel to get full frame rate when working in 320*200, and even a jump is 7 and simple mov,inc,add reg,reg are at least 2 cycles!

- Bad Sector's was definitelly faster (I didn't knew that rep stosb, I know too little x86 opcodes yet) but not giving me full frame rate, cause of slow videoram/gfxcard. Perhaps this is what happening in your 486 if you don't have a good PCI card installed

- I tested the old TridentVGA on AMDK6-500. Yeah,. if the gfxcard is slow, it doesn't matter the machine. It still outputs less than 1 frame and at least 100 times slower than if I output outside the Vram!
- When I say 1frame, I am talking in Amiga/C64 sceners language. 1 frame is more than 70fps. 2frames is 35-70fps, e.t.c.. It means how much frames does the monitor refreshes till you calculate and output your effect..
