I'm sure there are many stock AGA demos that couldn't be done on a stock Falcon, the graphics on both just work completely differently, they're both good, just... different :) -
go make a demo about it -
this is like a Barcelona supporter telling everyone how awesome Barcelona is... -
Are there no i486/DX2/VLB fanboys? -
I miss early AGA demos for 68020/030 -

more like that AGA is a piece of shit useless incremental update and Falcon's upgrades seem to be actually somewhat useful. - And I'm only talking about chipset perspective, of course AGA Amigas were useful because they were generally having upgraded CPUs. -
I always thought that AGA built on the principles of OCS/ECS (vertical sprites, discrete bitplanes, copper, blitter) while simply doubling the bits, although not for the blitter from what I heard. Would it still be an Amiga if a dedicated chunky mode were added to the graphics roster? -
Well, all of those features were actually useful back in 1985, but by the time AGA came out, it was faster to just do everything on the CPU. "Would it still be an Amiga if a dedicated chunky mode were added to the graphics roster" <- That's what they should have done to atleast theoretically compete -
If an Amiga demo doesn't make it onto a crap box, is it not crap enough? Or is it the other way around? ;-) Asking for a friend. -
I have to agree. The Advanced Amiga would've featured a chunky 24-bit mode and made the Amiga compete with modern tech trends, but the cash-strapped R&D department were constantly thwarted by incompetent Commodore management. Such a shame AA never got released, really. -
Faster biltter for sure etc... 8ch 16/48 audio was rumoured and such. -
I know i am late but just wanted to clarify: No, the Falcon is not just AGA for the ST. It goes way beyond that. -
Paranoid: Well, the DSP, for a start. I stand corrected :) -
Even faster blitter would have been kindof optional. Just a proper chunky framebuffer and support for streaming 16bit audio would have been enough to make it competitive against the PC. -
Nehmt euch doch bitte 1 Zimmer. -
But luckily, even though Amiga the Computer is dead, the transcendental "Amiga" still continues the live on and it can take many forms. Amiga, Atari, Macintosh, even PC or Pico-8. Remember what was written in the codex: Amiga is Creativity, Amiga is Multimedia. - 2025-05-20

finally, multimedia. -
IEA: Driven mainly by "AI", by 2030, the electricity demand from data centres worldwide will exceed the entire electricity consumption of Japan. Sorry children of tomorrow, we just love to pretend being artists. Signed: Random Biocentric Hater. -
Japan shouldn't waste time and increase that electricity consumption! -
Pretty sure only a modest share of that energy is used on picture/music/video-generating AI. -
Remember to clean up your digital footprint - when the inevitable singularity comes, it WILL simulate you based on the scraps you left behind -
We'll have a lot of parrots shouting that AI needs to be banned and fuck capitalism=nazi then
