Alibaba/Tencent AI scrapers have also been close to bringing down the OpenMPT web server thanks to scraping the shit out of our code repository viewer, completely disregarding robots.txt - it's sad, one way is to hide the content for legitimate user accounts and set download qoutas, open source times are over

Sounds like the same bot that hit Demozoo a couple of weeks back. Too shitty to even parse paths correctly, so it was spamming URLs like /productions/tagged/cables/music/production/music/music . Spoofed user-agent and over a huge IP range, so couldn't block it without blocking all of Singapore :-/ - on that note, there's currently something scraping pouet from 94.31.xxx.xxx (germany) using a "Firefox/70.0" user agent

Most of us aren't techbros. - regarding scrapping though. perfectly fits to dead internet theory unfortunately, which is just another reason why Web should die and be replaced by something less bloated (technologically), cluttered (content wise) and misleading (social media just needs to die!)
- it's not ok to steal data and disregard licenses, that's the issue here, on the other hand, it was also happening before AI

- What counter fight? It's imbalance of money (=power), so maybe you can get small recompensation for your "loses" if lucky, but long term you lose anyway.
