RIP Dennis Ritchie

category: offtopic [glöplog]
Well, thanks for Unix, without which there wouldn't have been this Ubuntu box that I'm writing this on right now.
But thing is, I never learned C, because I could never get my head around pointers! Maybe I'm a little stupid? :)
Good choice! Stick with asm, it's better for you anyway...

Sure he will be much less mourned in the popular media than the other "computing genius", money does that.

Perhaps much less media attention, but no, he didn't pass away unnoticed. Just stumbled upon this in El País:
Dennis Richtie: Unix para todos, todos para Unix

Hey hornet, how did you know that I liked asm???!! :)

By the way, are you in any way related to the hornet archive of oldskool demos that used to exist?
Kinda, it was named after me... ... ...
(read: "no")

Everyone likes asm ;)

this guy didn't invent C - it was Stebe Jobs who invented C. And the computer, and the microchip too!! Haven't you read all the articles floating around this week? How you dare...

rather derefferenced, since he is still in our memory and will be refferenced.

Sad news. But as long as we continue to code in C, he is still alive.

C and UNIX. What a legacy! And most people would never know who was this man!
