Goodbye Pacidemo

category: offtopic [glöplog]

Sigh... pacidemo's gone... Just as I had downloaded SainT 1.3 and was going to get some Atari goodness...

Damn!

Hopefully, I had downloaded all the Pacidemo demo's some time ago. Perhaps I miss the latest updates..

pity... i truely loved that site... so this reduces the last real cool atari based sites to lgd and dhs...

r.i.p. pacidemo... you did a good job *sniff*

bye bye pacidemo. was a really nice site. well ordered. comments, grabs and everything.

if you have the time: please mail brume at: pacidemo@planet-d.net

maybe if he gets enough mail he will reconsider or pass the archive on to another enthousiast.

To make matters worse, I decided to get some Atari demos from Pouet as a last resort, and Pouet links to (gasp)... Pacidemo. So they're really gone.

Ouch!

What I can't understand when some people decide to abandon their sites. They close the site too! Why can't they still keep the database for the people and just say it will not be updated in the future? I mean, not updating, saying that the site is dead, but still having a link to go to the old site..

Because they often have to pay the monthly fee...

Y'know what? Someone should make a modern megademo. You know, with an interactive main menu sort of thing, and many little screens- maybe 64k intro-size things.

Where's scene.org when we need them?

good news: it seems the stuff is back up there! bad news: it won't be updated anymore.

well, cheers to brume anyway.

@crusader: no problem.

ps: the gif file (16x16) has 256 colors, the original (100x100) has 10,000 colors.

I was able to put pacidemo.planet-d.net back online.

Currently it's running on the old server.

Is this of any interest to someone? In which case I'll migrate the account to our new servers. What do you think?
nice that it's back online. used to be my main source of atari demos when i was discovering the atari scene back in 2002.

Well, nowdays the de facto collection for Atari 16/32 demos is at No Fragments. Still not a problem if more resources are online!
