did it ever occur to the people over the pond that their country isnt very popular here? i mean, you get what you give. arrogance in one area might well be the reason for arrogance on the other side and in another area of interest ..

and yes, the demoscene is a european movement. it's time the americans accepted that fact. that does not mean that there can't be good releases from over there but you have to get up to our level if you want any praise. it's just like capitalism, competition on equal terms ..

oh come on..

demoscene is not only about creating 'best ever' stuff, but also about watching.

I am very much happy when I see people outside Europe being interested in our stuff.

Demoscene is about creating, yes. But also about watching other people's work, travelling and appreciating each other for what they are. It should stay away from politics, race and origin.

(tear rolling down the cheek) :-))

Everyone stfu already. This thread is retarded.
*cough*flamebaitpleaseignore*cough*
actually,
*cough*flamebaitpleaseignore*cough*
according to what i once read on wikipedia,
justa few nights ago
*cough*flamebaitpleaseignore*cough*
demoscene is _underground_ in the USA unlike the _mainstream_ that it is in Europe.
*cough*flamebaitpleaseignore*cough*
thank god that got deleted already.
along with "megademos are collections of demos."
*cough*flamebaitpleaseignore*cough*
i wonder what demopacks would be called.
*cough*flamebaitpleaseignore*cough*
thank god we have a very usefull, thorough, concise and versatile link, right in the head of the external links, to explain us all what truly the demoscene is, by surely someone deeply connected to the very roots of the demoscene phenomena to set the story straight.

What is the Demoscene? by Rich Thompson
*cough*flamebaitpleaseignore*cough*

et's face it, mocking the north american demoscene is like robbing a homeless man. it's pointless, it doesn't help us any, and it makes you look like an asshole.

phoenix said it all. (yes gemini, you made yourself look like an asshole)

"PILGRIMAGE: AFTER DARK"

added on the 2004-09-23 11:13:57 by radman1 radman1
the horror! the tragedy! the pilgrimage! and dont forget to come to inerciademoparty2005!

actually, seriously, you know what i was thinking, rich should organize an overseas compo, like, only countries shoring with the atlantic ocean could participate. i mean, one thing i do seriously envy out of rich is his ability to assimilate sponsors, he seems to have alot more talent on the bs talk that sponsors feed upon then i do. and frankly, we could use some free radeons on this side of the pond too, just the candy could make some .pt sceners move their asses for a change. but then again spain also shores with atlantic so we wouldnt really stand a chance... but then again ithaqua could use a radeon too.. decisions decisions..
cant you just organize pilgrimage twice a year so dan could start sending us for free all the radeons he wins out of rich?

seriously.. could you consider this? i mean,
i like ATI cards, and we arent capitalist pigs, we could use some on this side of the pond...

and no im not beeing sarcastic or elitist, its really just an idea i had that i would like to see happening..
added on the 2004-09-23 12:04:27 by psenough psenough
ok, i am an asshole. THANK YOU VERY MUCH MR AMERICALOVER!

no but seriously, the demoscene has always been about elitism and i don't see why this shouldnt apply to americans.

because their newbies... aaawwww arent they cute and sweet and mostly clueless.. they're so cuuuuute! lets treat them nicely and warm and fuzzy, specially the ones who keep spamming us and telling us they know better how to organize amazingly elite demoparties when they obviously nkow jack shit about the real roots and spirit of the scene mostly because, surprise, they never even been to a bloody demoparty, and they never did a decent prod before on their lives, let alone do a cracktro for a game.
*piracy == cancer flamebait warning, come get it while its hot plek!*

Patrick Groove's from Alberta. I know this because I am too. This is irrelevant, though.

Is being a scener like enlightenment? Does it have to be transmitted straight down from the Buddha in a direct line? Cause if it is, well, then Polaris and Radman (who've been to assembly lately) count as bringing enlightenment to the west. Good thing they achieved enlightenment by spending money on a plane ticket.

Ps, are you a 'real' german? (Or French person or whatever?) I had some friends move to France once and get treated like shit for basically the same reasons in this thread: they're not french, they never will be, it doesn't matter that they speak the language perfectly and have citizenship and work and pay taxes. This obsession with _where you're born_ being more important than _what you do_ sort of fucks people up sometimes. You might wanna look into that.

I heard this exact same story, but that was about somebody moving to Globe, Nevada....

oh, and PS is dutch, everybody knows that!

what's with all the overreacting spreading all over the place... it's not even funny anymore when you take it so seriously.

shitting all over the american sceners just because they're american is boring and pointless.
but then again, getting hurt by this is also pointless, naive even.

i say you should just install an antispam filter on radman and all will be fine :D

listen, don't get me wrong .. ofcourse it's nice that people in the us are into the demoscene, but not nicer than if people from say ukraine was. stop cuddling with them and treat them like the fellow (and equal) sceners they are. a demoscener is measured by his productions, not his origin. that is what i have always meant and in this position i will not change. OK?
added on the 2004-09-23 17:45:44 by gemini gemini
that also means: if americans only make shit prods, they are no fun. period.

So now all in NA are just stupid newbies without a clue. No there weren't a handful of us there who have been paying attention, and releasing since the early to mid 90's. None at all... ahem...

Maybe I don't want to bother flying over for a party or two if thats the attitude I'm going to encounter... "Look at the poor caveman like wannabe scener. He's only been around for 10 years, so naive."
