what to do with hates / permanent thumbdowners?

category: general [glöplog]
everywhere else we submit demos for enhanced platforms to the real wild compo and write the details of the platform on the infotext and people applaud regardless if they like who made it. in russia they have to do it with more drama :)

Now it's out in the open and has it become more understandable for you?

Nnnoo, not really? As you can imagine most of us don't speak russian.

I like it when Garg makes me laugh.

Not surprisingly a thread about arguments appears to have devolved into.... an argument.

ringo! :D
So just to get some clarity since i don't know the zx scene very well, does TS-config utilize the architecture of zx evo (fpga?) hence the "no relation to speccy" statements?
Imho the relation is the intent of the zxevo (a clone among others if im not wrong) but exploatation of hw is to be expected at least in this community.
Perhaps it would have been a different ballgame had it been an add-on accelerator like the Vampire for example?
Ah, i do believe that this isn't an issue for the majority of the zx scene but it does (obviously) affect it, so i hope y'all will come to terms and get along.

Sppechless,
i took a good look at the linked prod with the that 2015 winner demo. Turns out the creators are completely transparent with what they did. The demo utilizes the fpga and effectively makes the speccy into a 14MHz, 4mb ram, 32k colors per pixel, etc etc monster.
This is no longer about true spirited emulation, bit it's a pretty cool achievemnt nevertheless. Implementing such stuff on FPGAs is not exactly trivial.
Personally I'd place that ts conf stuff in the wild category, but I am not as emotionally invested in the whole thing ;)

zx evo / Ts conf could be made into a platform for sure, but only if people start really embracing it. otherwise, normal pouet and party orga rules should apply.

I get triggered if people start throwing around words like "motherfucker" though. Please don't do that.

It already is.

I imagine we would have similar "discussions" regarding the Amiga platform if anyone in the scene actually thought that Vampire was a good idea.

Anyway, the obvious solution seems to me to be to just divide the compos up, and then enjoy what people are coding. Remember, this is supposed to be fun.

El Topo, there is also base conf.

Okkie: turtles are nice.

I don't like pigeons though, they are not nice.

i think 3 years is more than enough of this hate. to commemorate this date, i will be releasing TRD that caused all this ruckus for everyone to see and analyse

El Topo, nah i think the problem is like if you made an Amigademo on Mist for example and taking advantage of that specific hw (wich would make it a Mistdemo).

And thats why i pondered wheter it would have made a difference if it was an add-on acceletator that required original hw. But then again there seem to be purists who doesn't approve of the clones either wich in my (perhaps unknowing) mind are zx equivalents of 060 accelerated Amiga/Ataris.

But at the end of the day it's about having fun and the best option to embrace creativity.

And I get triggered if people start to slander, what is exactly the case with introsec. But I'm in doubt whether 'please don't do that' will have an effect in this case.

@Gargaj,

Can you please make an exact question so that I could give an exactly directed answer?

@Speechless,

Otherwise it seems very contraproductive to crash your own hw?

Am I right concluding that you are now accusing and slandering me doing that, right after introsec? Nice.

Well it's multiple questions and I don't claim to be fully aware of the entire case but:
Quote:
I accused you and Alone_Coder of doing, or inciting someone else to do, something untoward at CC'2015. Specifically, a prod was submitted to the compo with the explicit aim of sabotaging that compo.

Three years down the line you did not even find it in yourself to say "I did not do it".

So I'm guessing it's among the lines of:
- were you aware of the prod being made / submitted
- did you encourage/incite the creation
- did you take part in the creation?

prodlist not related to TS conf, some demos made for General Sound etc.
glad war is over.

It is actually even more dramatic. Creators of Base Conf taught the creator of TS Conf the basics of hardware coding and once he learned it, he did what he wanted to do, instead of what they expected him to do.

The very important moment intentionally lost in the quoted text is that the creator of tsсоnf started to put shit everywhere he could: on me, on CHRV, on the ZX Evolution platform itelf. All using heavily obscene language. No wonder that now for me everything and everybody related to tsсоnf is bad.

@lvd: No not at all, my thought was quite the opposite actually.

Thanks for clarification.
Here is my position on those and alike questions, that I've developed for myself right after first seeing the slander from introsec.

1. If I'd ever answer direct question with exact 'yes' or 'no', my answer would be obviously the same regardless what the true story is.
2. It is very hard, or even impossible to prove that somebody didn't do something. Every single argument could be refuted with 'you've just hidden good enough' or 'you're lying' -- again without a single proof, as the original accusation.
3. I simply see no reason in answering ugly slander originating from ugly people (not meaning you, @Gargaj), even if in this case I'd supposed to answer to you, not to the original accuser.

when you dodge direct questions like that, it only makes it look like you were indeed involved. you're perpetuating the situation.

if you ask me it's pretty ridiculous that both sides care about the release and if lvd had any hand in the production or not. it's just a production released at a party for fun. remember what that's like? to have fun releasing demoscene productions? stop taking things so seriously like a release is killing the scene. people release whatever they like to release. don't hate them for doing their thing.

just my 2 cents.

For me it is a case of trust. If you'd trust me, you believe me if I answer. If you not, you won't. The conclusion is that there is no reason to ever answer. Any residual trust was instantly broken by introsec after his abovementioned post, so no reason to answer him as well.

However I was dumped with a huge pile of shit, full of proofless accusations, insults and humiliations. That stuff was never assumed to be fun and it never will be, as well as I don't want the original accuser and the people who said then 'yes it's indeed he!' feel unpunished.
