Well, it does a heck of a lot more than just that, but I started working on it back in 1998, when Windows was suckier. I was hoping to sell it commercially, but no-one seemed interested.
What it could do was take snapshots of HDD and CD/DVD folder hierarchies and examine all the files and folders within and produce lots of statistics about them. It was also snapshots which essentially meant the info could be catalogued, although it didn't include the contents of the files themselves, just the directory information.
so you reinvented windirstat?
I didn't exactly know about it back then :) Besides, I coulda been the competition(!)
