Were do all the avatars come from? Are they all user made? Or Is there a base of avatars that started it off? I'm noticing a lot of then have the same timestamp.
As far as I can remember they are all user made, perhaps there was a very small batch of default icons, but the oldest (and inactives) account have already user-made icons.

I think the timestamp may indicate a server move, I did my icon pretty much the same day I signed up, but the timestamp shows March 2010, which is a little later than my signup day :)
