A psychologist would have a field day looking at this.

Especially considering I later "stole" that Offscreen Colonies poster after the party ended. ;)
Starchaser, the lovely Conspiracy guys were giving them out for free at their table. Btw, thanks for the supply, guys. D.Fox kept the "From Conspiracy with love" sign. <3

On that note we can do some reprints if there's people who missed out (come to Function)

Aw, I didn't know where that was. I likely would have visited if I knew that.

Survey time!

We've put up a survey to ask you some questions about Revision. Please have a look If you have a bit of time and want to help us make the event even better. It's quite extensive but we're sure you can manage <3

Here's the link

5 days party? How are the chances it will be like that next year?

It should be flipped: Exactly 5 non-party-days. Agreed, it calls for some additional logistics and all but think of the benefits!

Creonix: If you bring us a second set of organizers this just might happen. :)

kb_, what kind of organizer clones would you need most apart from three dfoxes and madames? I guess some things would scale up less than linearly with the number of days (finance, buildup, teardown, sponsoring, website, tech), while the permanently staffed parts (infodesk, beam, fence watching) would obviously need more help. From how it was put in the survey, it sounded like the idea was mainly to distribute the events more evenly to leave more air in between, not fill all the new space with more things (and maybe resolve some awkward scheduling problems in the process, like high-profile compos in the afternoon or seminars early in the morning). So compo organizing, seminars, etc. might not scale up that much. I like the idea a lot and having one more free day at the party makes the prospect of helping out myself more appealing as well. If it's like this not just for me, but for more of those who usually just come as guests, it might actually work out. I hope you are seriously considering it :)

I would like to point out that five days is a lot more than four considering people have families, work etc. One extra day of party is one day off work, which can be both expensive (missed pay + extra hotel costs and stuff) and really dififcult to organize due to real life. If an additional day is added, I think it should be added in the beginning of the party. It would be easier to skip that way.

(that said, I'd love five days of Revision if only my liver could handle that...)

That should be easily achievable with a bit of self restraint :)

Same here. Despite dropping newbie mentoring this year, I still felt I had overloaded myself with too many things. An extra day might alleviate this.

Having said that,

...this is a problem as well. I'd be able to make it happen in my case (having a flexible job and supporting family is wonderful!), but I wonder which events would be moved to the extra day, considering many people would probably skip that. Sounds like some tough and thankless decisions...

IIRC the form mentioned that there would be basically no big events on the extra day? So for anyone who couldn't manage to come for the extra day, they would probably not miss a lot (except for the extra socializing, of course).
Cupe: The first problem is that buildup, party and teardown are essentially the same people. If we had an army of underpaid interns carrying around and setting up/tearing down all the heavy stuff while the rest of the orga team just needed to work during the party, I'd instantly say go for it - but alas, we somehow have to manage with what's left of the team on monday afternoon. And make no mistake: Even with events spread out you can assume that each day of Revision is a net health/sleep/condition loss for any of us; we might not have to work as hard but it's still a party, and all of us organizers want to enjoy that aspect, too (at least I think so :)).

Speaking from experience here because due to a few missing key persons this year's Revision a) turned out to be my soberest Easter since 15 years or so (I just forgot to drink, too much to do), and nevertheless b) was so exhausting that after four days of running at 150% my body just broke down and I had to go home early.

"Normal" events avoid this situation by either paying people for buildup and teardown or giving the crew a day of rest or at least a good night of sleep at the end of the event. We do neither. And as one of the first people to go to the party place (Tuesday late morning) and [normally] last to finally arrive home again (Wednesday 1am-ish after unloading a transporter in two locations) I can very confidently say that we'll need some _massive_ restructuring in the whole "who does what at which time" department if a 5-day Revision should become a thing.

(And I didn't even mention that we organizers usually need to take a lot of vacation days (6 for me) for that, and some of us can't do the full buildup and teardown because they need to work. One day more will make that worse, too.)

5 days party would be nice for some people, for other people it might be too much. But look after yourselves first of all - try to look at the things from a distance and ask the question if the additional effort is really worth. Fame and props after the party are probably nice but if they don't balance the actual lost of nerves/health just think it over.

It was my first Revision and I think I'd like to come next year too regardless of how long it would be. But it's supposed to be some fun for ye guys too! :-)
