- Do I get it right that THE graphician/musician/coder/'blablatitle' have to submit her/himself with an entry?
- Do I get it right that there is no open general public award, but based on creators submittance and limited to voting on those?

You are right on both accounts. This is the way we decided to go. It would be just too much for the jurymembers to sit down and watch every singe prod released in the year. It would be impossible. So only those productions submitted for jurying will be considered.

Little over an hour left to submit your prods and jury participation!

yay :)
Only 3 days to go. I hope not only the winner but also a top 5 (or even all prods with more than x votes?) will be published - would be interesting. :-)

Meteoriks 2015 Nominees Announced

We're very proud to announce the nominees for our High End and Low End, New Talent and Public Choice categories.

Nine separate juries were involved in picking five nominees for each category. For Public Choice, the five top ranked productions were selected.

While you have a look at the nominees, our juries will continue deliberating on the Special Categories. Stay tuned for more!

"The Meteoriks are named after the deceased Giles 'Meteorik/Meaty' Constant to honor his dedication to the demoscene and the inspiration he was to others within the community."

So well deserved that I wonder why they even bothered to announced the other nominees.

Seriously, I still feel that if you're honoring someone, you should at least have a page that tells those people who didn't know him who he is and why you're honoring him. I'd love to know. No, I'm not going to piece things together through random google searches.

Got that covered! http://meteoriks.org/nominees

So, for example if you want to know more about the Public Choice: http://meteoriks.org/nominees#nominees-10

I hope this answers your question. Or did you mean you want a written statement about how the results came to be? Because not even scene.org did that.

I think he was referring to the fact that the name of the awards is a tribute to Meaty

Why not? That's what I usually do whenever there's something I'd love to know.

Also seriously, it's the first entry in our FAQ :)

FWIW, his name in that FAQ entry could maybe linked to his Demozoo profile, although that will of course only show very little of what he did for the scene (though we could of course mention his quizzes and stuff on that page).
or describe him as the frankie boyle of the demoscene! :)
