You mean the 1st post? If you're left-winged then you shouldn't be offended when someone calls you so. And being carefree is a wonderful thing, an integral part of youth, I often miss it. I didn't mean to pinch.

I didn't see any "pinching".
Regardless of anyone's political leanings here (altho I think you & I rutra may share some) and despite whether some pouet members are capable of being aware of just what sort of ramifications this game could have to a child who has little or no understanding of sex - this game is clearly not aimed at 11 yo. kids. The fact that people are misinterpreting it's intentions and the demographic it's aimed at is very disturbing and somewhat disconcerting.

Again I postulate as a litmus test - if you had an 11 yo. daughter, would you feel comfortable that this was her introduction to "the birds and the bees"?

Now I guess that most sceners are left winged or otherwise carefree, but I know there are some wise souls here.

Well, you made it sound like "left winged, therefore not wise". :)

Being introduced to birds and bees at 11 is quite disturbingly late. I am glad I had a less metaphorical and more honest explanation way sooner than that.

(note that this is irrelevant to the game discussed here)

well, i didn't wanted to be "pinchy", but clearly I think it's more disturbing to see children killing hundred of people in a military game than playing to "doctors" with (c)Barbie & (c)Ken :)

Well, I played Barbarian as a 5-year-old and I turned out fine... Right? ;)

It says "Free to Play", so did anyone actually try it?

frak I thought I could finally try some new Valve product, but there is nothing about HL3 here... :P

Concerning hl2, I tried this old hidden gem and it's pretty hilarious and clumsy at times.

What've dinosaurs got to do with HL2, Optimus?

and how many of us typed 'fuck hooker' in Larry1 at the age of ~8... it was even helpful to learn english!

*sigh* Leisure Suit Larry - an amazing and often misjudged educational game.

Besides English, it taught me useful stuff like who Spiro Agnew was, what's in a Screwdriver and that Kwi-Chang Caine was famous for saying "Aaaaaiiiyeeeaagggh!".

It's just that the physics of this game were ahead of the time, even if buggy, reminded me HL2 physics. And HL2 devs said in an interview they were inspired by this game.

lol, just referred to LSL in another thread without knowing about the current discussion here. And I'm also one of those guys who learned english with Larry at the age of ~8..

Just wondering, would you let a boy play this game?
Because most of the time, you see, people just assume it's ok for boys to be naughty but not for girls… it's ok for boys to watch porn, it's ok for boys to have girlfriend and you'd host the girl but ONCE YOU HAVE A DAUGHTER, oh no she can't date any guys and she's a princess.

Yea I'm a parent too, and you're just a bunch of nerds without a clue in these matters :P

Having kids is the easiest thing in the world. Raising them properly though…

I just watched this pretty comprehensive video. It's basically a sketch from one of the creator's childhood turned into a "game"; very silly and more along the lines of those goat/surgery "simulators", nothing to get all worked up about.

Let's have a discussion about… RapeLay.
"I guess that most sceners are left winged or otherwise carefree"

So, does it hurt to be so blatantly ignorant and stupid, or does it make the world an easier place to live in?

I think the litmus test here should be - would you let your 11 yo. daughter play this game?

There's more to consider. For example:
- Do you let your kids play with dolls?
- Do you monitor what your kids are doing with those dolls 24/7?
- Do you remember what you did when you where their age?

This list could go on. If you think a 'fumblecore' game with naked dolls is harmful to your kids, then you'd better lock them up and swallow the key.
Or you could, you know, grow some f**king balls and explain sex to them.

Here's another question to ask:
What makes you concerned about your kids playing with naked dolls? The fact that they might ask you about stuff that you are uncomfortable talking about?

Valid point - I'm talking from experience here. Not having any sons means that I can''t really comment. But in answer to your question - no I wouldn't let my 11 yo. son play this either, as I have said more than once - this game clearly isn't being 'marketed' towards children.

I've said nothing about what toys my daughter plays with or whether she knows about sex. I have said that I don't think this game is aimed at children and that if she didn't know about sex there's no way I'd want this game to be the way she found out.

You're projecting.

I did ask how any parents would feel about their kids learning about sex via this game. knl kinda answered me with a misdirection about gender and you haven't.

you can play the game online if you have shockwave flash: http://ninasays.so/howdoyoudoit/

it doesn't seem very disturbing or educative. it is a joke game about a situation that former 11 year olds may be able to relate to. if you don't want your kids to play it you shouldn't let them. you shouldn't let them use steam or web browsers unsupervised if this is so upsetting to you.
