stolen data as papermag?

category: general [glöplog]
i've read in old issues of the STOLEN DATA diskmag that it was available as a papermag at the same time, with some bonus content.

it seems like there are no scans online. does anyone have the old papermag issues? in case anyone does have them, please get in touch! we'd love to host them at scene.org. if you don't have a scanner, i'll happily pay the postage so you can send them to me, then i'll scan them and send them back safe and sound.

I would definitely love to see this happen. In fact, I'll offer the same deal dipswitch did for ANY demoscene related magazine not currently available, or just available in an inferior, low-resolution copy. :)

menace, yes, i wanted to offer that as well, but though "one at a time". =) in fact, yeah, if you have any papermags that you wouldn't mind getting scanned, please contact menace or myself!

Hello!

Judge Drokk of ANARCHY (1989-1993) here....... who did u contact about paper mags of Stolen Data?

The editor of the paper mag was NOSAH of DCS, he devised the mag as a paper mag with bonus disk to house extra content. In the C64 scene he made the paper mag "Iguana", following inspiration from the legendary c64 magazine... "Illegal" by Jeff Smart. ... after a few issues he left the scene completeley for personal reasons. Ive not spoken to him for more than 20 years. So if u have spoken to him... well done.
The disk magazine continued for a total of ten issues and 3 complete re-codes, 2 re-codes by Kreator and one by Kris of Anarchy. The disk magazine was edited firstly by Kreator, then by Mr Big, and then by myself "Judge Drokk". I closed the magazine down in spring 1993 and closed down Anarchy in the same month. The magazine, group and Amiga scene (at least as far as i was concerned) had run its course. Five BIG LONG YEARS was enough. There was no more going "UP".... so it was time to get off. I dont have any paper issues of stolen data any more. Sorry!

I hope u find some copies... my D"ear Mr Drokk page" was very funny!
Judge Drokk, thanks for writing here, and thumbs up for the work you did with "Stolen Data"!

If you have any idea who could have any paper copies of SD (or, in fact, any scene papermags besides Illegal/Iguana/CCCP and the other few ones that are online), please do get in touch! dipswitch at kaoz dot org.

Heres the "Welcome text" from the first issue (disk edition)

(The Disk and paper combo was a co production with Anarchy DCS and Tristar) )

++ text extracted from Stolen Data #01 by Anarchy,DCS and Tristar ++
++ intro part ++

welcome to the first issue of -stolen data- the first combination
disk and paper magazine for crackers, swappers and coders ( pause scroll
with right mouse ) produced as a co-operation between dcs , anarchy
and tristar.
for our inaugural issue we have interviews with vision factory and
bamiga sector 1 gossip demo reviews an amiga music competition
dear mr drokk articles including one from subway, an article on
the development of the amiga scene, an article from count zero on the
future of telecommunications and its implications on the computer scene
and an article by myself ( kreator-anarchy uk ), which is an introduction
to demo-coding on the miggy we also have the crackers charts, three
great demos for your delight including the exceptional 'seven sins' demo
from scoopex finland also some excellent artwork by silver of the errors
including 2 great cartoons and more i suppose i had better give you
the credits for this intro the music from codex of razor 1911 all
coding and graphics by me if you want to contact myself or nosah then
you will find our addresses spotted about the disk a number of times,
write to nosah if you wish to get a copy of this or the next issue,
details elsewhere. also if you have any contributions for the magazine
write to nosah if it concerns the paper mag, or myself if it's for this
disk magazine . well this is my first big project on the amiga, so
I hope it goes down well, if not, don't hesitate to write to me with
your criticisms ( all complimentary i hope ). in future issues we will
also have more charts ( we simply didn't receive enough votes this issue
for the charts to be any reflection on the current scene on anything
other than cracking, so please send in those votes :Best demo, Trainer,
musician, graphics, cracking group see the paper mag for more details )
we will also hold more competitions, for coders, graphic artists,
etc.. there will be more demo reviews a coders hints and tips
corner, in which i will try to answer your questions + much more
well i don't have too much time left, so it remains to say don't
forget to put your orders in for the next issue.

I wish i could help..... my person copies came from NOSAH who edited and printed the paper mag... and he didnt print many of each issue... it was quite expensive and time consuming in those days... and he had a full time job in the army which eventually led to him leaving the scene. Which was a real shame... as he LOVED the culture of the scene in those pioneering days. Its 21 years since i last saw a paper copy and who else had one at the time i have no idea. Good luck with your quest.

If anything comes up, ill let u know!
dipswitch: your posting implies to me you don't have any issue. if you already got
scans of #2 I'm sorry :)
oh, brilliant! no, i didn't have that one! will go straight up to scene.org.

Some very good advice on page 14 of that #2 issue.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to get 1/2 pound of raw liver.

...Hello!

Judge Drokk here again.

I just got front and back scans of issue 3 of STOLEN DATA Paper mag from a guy called
DAGGER who filmed Anarchy's "Party 92" (check it out on YouTube.. its ace!)

Anyone want to shoot me an email address where i can send the 2 scans to?

ThanX
dipswitch's address can be found in the first post. ;)
........... So it is....!

ThanX
Got a msg back from kreator of /-\narchy

Unfortunately he got rid of all his Amiga stuff (incl. unfinished demos) 15 years ago....

..Only 15 Years ago?

I got rid of "EVERYTHING", every Anarchy production, every Used and unused GFX, every 4MAT Tune, used and unused in 1993.

... Including the "VERY RARE"..... Oooh Its OBSCENE! 1,2,3,4,5.

Number 1 is rare cos that one is "pre-Anarchy"..... (The Fantastic Four)

I Can't imagine what the guy who bought it thought of it all...!

He was just getting a "gaming computer" for the kid to play on.

It went in the local paper.

I sent the scans to the dipswitch guy via email in first post but i not heard anything back.
judge drokk, thanks a lot!

i meant to answer your mail properly but the job caught up with me... sorry!

i'll put the cover scans into an approppriate dir on ftp.scene.org and hope that more scans will come up!

just being curious: how did you stumble upon this thread? do you "secretly" browse pouet.net after all these scene-free years, or did someone point you towards the thread? in any case, it's pretty exciting =)

I find the thread here by accident.....

I know Pouet.net very well...... and drop by quite often...,... for various reasons.

nostalgia, pride in the past,..etc. sometimes Google will bring me here unexpectedly

and sometimes it is directly thru choice. I sometimes Google things from the Amiga scene to see what comes up and one of those times brought me to this thread.

Keep the past alive guys.
pretty nice thread! :)
