I'm really looking forward to listen to that mysterious "Aufbau" (original soundtrack). What style is it?

Don't you think it's an total asshole move to pick the same date as FUNCTION 2014?

PLEASE. Not coming. If I go to a demoparty at that date, it will be function, promised.

(Btw. my comment depends on who picked the date first of course, but I suppose function is going to "win" that).

Sometimes parties don't get the flexibility in picking dates they'd like to have and choices boil down to pick a clashing weekend or not being able to organize it at all.

Honestly, no point crying over spilt milk, especially not with profanity.

Bitch, bitch, moan. Are we going to be crying about Revision's "total asshole move" to be held during the same date as The Gathering while were at it? :)

They could have at least picked assembly's date :P

This isn't even the only party clash this year or decade, so no point in making a drama about it. Plus, what Gargaj said.
just wait until 2015 when tum comes back and both UC parties happen at the same date as well! ;p

seriously thugh, i also dont think party clashes can be avoided per se: good/affordable locations are hard to find as it is.
however, it should be in the interest of the "new" party orgas to not fight for the same audience, aka steal a lot of visitors from the party that was there before.
considering that function seems to have had like 90% hungarian/local visitors in the past (correct me if im wrong there) and those are not very likely to care about a new german party as many germans did not care too much about function (sadly), i cant see that it does major damage to either event.
of course there will always be people who have to decide which party to go to (and yes, before the announcement of deadline i was considering going to budapest as well), but i dont think this can be 100% avoided anyhow since its not only about clashing dates but also money/vacation/etc...

Best solutions is to have only one party per year. No risk of two parties at the same weekend then. :)

Yeah, the date-clash is a bit unfortunate. Maybe we can do a live-feed between the two parties, or a live-call atleast - and probably showing some entries from the other party. :)

Besides that.. if we would have picked the weekend after, it would have clashed with demoJS, the week after that it would have clashed with TRSAC. The week before was not available... two weeks before it would have clashed with riverwash.
(And also other factors came into consideration of course.)

All I can say is to assure you that we had no evil plan in mind while picking the date.

The idea was that there is are German demoparties in spring, summer and winter, but not yet in autumn, and not yet in Berlin - although there are lots of sceners living in and around Berlin. So we decided to just do it - and came to the conclusion that if we wanted to do it in 2014 rather than 2015 we would have to pick that date.

If I'm correct, 3rd of October is the day of German unity and also a national holiday in Germany. I see nothing wrong with a German demoparty in the German capital on such a date.

Well, I'm maybe getting "too old" but I think we have quite enough demoparties in germany and too few (good) releases - so increasing the amount of places where you can release your stuff might lead to other parties having to merge compos (among other things).

I'm not exactly sure what kind of party you are trying to achieve with deadline, but if you just want it to be a "standard demoparty" with the classic compos and more than like ~70 people attending... - I'm a bit skeptical.

On the other hand, I think, creating something completely new - filling an existing gap - is a better choice:
Maybe more "demoscene conferences" focussed on spreading knowledge (conference style, workshops, talks, hands on things, "minicompos") rather than just having compos and drinking could really help.

And sorry for being a bit too rough beforehand. ;)

On that matter I spoke with one of the organizers of this years function and we think it'd be cool to have some streaming between both parties. And if it's just one compo, or for saying hi or something.
That sure depends if function will have streaming this year, the bandwidth was there last year - and TMC and me tried to set something up - just didn't have the proper cam for it.

All that said, having actually been one attentend last year - I don't think a lot of visitors there would have come to us.

This time, we will have proper streaming. Pasy already mentioned to me that he spoke with one of the Deadline orgas about mutual streaming and other "lets do this together" features, so then it was you... :)

Something like this would be awesome!, although I wonder if enough speakers could be found.

deadline will be some kind of "killer"-party... function is just too far away for west-european sceners... what was it like... about 40 to stay ? yes. ok'ish. but: i'd like to say that the date is more than welcome to germans and surrounding folks. ... and that there will be some hell of a party. eastern germany needs a party like that for a *very* long time !
