Thanks all for a great party!

@h0ffman: Sorry that the 600 wasn't good enough for DJ'ing... I'm not that clued up on Amiga anyways. ;) Hope that Akira has is delivered to him okay, along with the PSU which I hope you have kept.

Also, an apology to Topy44 for eating his scotch egg while completely shit-faced! I honestly couldn't remember that at all! lol

Also big-up to Heavy Stylus for providing my the new full "+" cart of Bomberland, as well as some nice talks on Friday. BTW, I'm really happy to hear positive feedback from you guys regarding Bomberland when demo'd on the big screen. I really appreciate it.

Some really great people I have met, both oldskool and nuskool! Was also nice to see my C64 mate Leming turn up too!

I'm definately going to Sundown again... and hopefully with a fucking SID tune!

@conrad: Bomberland is simply awesome, very high quality and totally exceeded all my expectations of a C64 Bomberman clone. There's some features and ideas in it that I've actually never seen in a Bomberman game before, that work really well!

Thanks to everyone for another great Sundown party. A great time again this year, and something of a different vibe to last year, maybe due to more visitors from abroad, which was really lovely. Lots of highlights for me, especially lug00ber convincing the Dominoes Pizza delivery guy to stay and watch the demo compos when he came to deliver pizza. That was awesome :D (and thanks for the slices lug00ber!). Was great to have breakfast and a nice chat with m0d and Sil too and to finally meet Devistator and catch up with Fell again.

So many highlights and good memories to tide me over for another year. Some awesome live sets this year, and the realtime tracker compo was really great. As always, lots of fabulous entries to the compos, and I especially enjoyed the exe music compo this year. Hopefully that becomes a regular Event at Sundown.

I need to fix up a working release build of our demo, so that it can be posted here. Pretty much everything that could have gone wrong, did go wrong. A few things that couldn't possibly have gone wrong went wrong too :\ Anyway, I'll do my best to get that sorted, and will post the franken-prod version if I fail. Really don't want to release the b0rked party version if at all possible though ;)

Big thanks to the orgnanisers (Ruari, Waffle et al) too, who really worked their asses off this year. Thanks to Psonice for the tasty Sunday morning oatcake too - lovely!

Bomberman on the C64 looked bloody awesome too. Didn't get a chance to play, but looking forward to trying it at some point. Top stuff Conrad!

Anyway, back to reality now. Thanks everyone, you made the weekend one to remember for a long, long time :D

Yeah, that was a fantastic party, once again!

Conrad: Bomberland is simply awesome, very high quality and totally exceeded all my expectations of a C64 Bomberman clone. There's some features and ideas in it that I've actually never seen in a Bomberman game before, that work really well! and the in game music rocks! (Copy + paste ftw!)

raizor: ah, it was lugoober that got the pizza guy to stay? I sat next to him on at the front and talked to him for a bit, not realising who he was.. i was thinking "how come he's supper excited about all this but doesn't really know what demos are? Wtf?!". Then he got up and I saw the uniform.. and laughed my ass off! :D He seemed really keen to get involved, maybe he'll be there next year without the pizza bag :D

Right, i'd better get my intro captured so people can watch it. Maybe I'll see if I can get it <2k as a final too. I wanted to make it longer, but things went hilariously wrong when i tried.

Btw, the oatcakes were mostly vince's work (he bought all the stuff and pre-cooked all of that tasty bacon before the party), I only helped cook + hand them out.

WOW, today is probably one of the toughest days on job I've ever had, thanks to this fantastic party! :D

As I think some have already seen, I completely fell in love with this little town. It's not only the party that was fantastic, it's the entire experience from the minute we landed in London to the minute we hugged as many as we possibly could and said goodbye. I'll get to the awesomeness of the venue in a little while, because I simply have to share this fantastic experience, that I had on friday afternoon:

It started already on our way to the party, as we stopped in Tesco in Exeter to shop. The lady at the cash register imediately spotted that we were tourists from abroad, and started talking to us. It turned out she'd been in Copenhagen a couple of years back, and she happily told us stories about how lovely the town was and how expensive the restaurants are :D People were queuing up, but they didn't seem to bother at all, that they had to wait for us to finish the nice chat. Someone even smiled! That would just NEVER have happened in a supermarket in Copenhagen :)

We arrived at the party and just dropped off all the gear and left to check in at the bed and breakfast just up the hill. The land-lady (is it called that when it's a woman?!?) wasn't there, so we just droppped off our bags and headed back down to town where raizor and revival just had to buy something at the local supermarked. I just lit a cigarette, so I stayed outside to wait for them. As I was standing there, this really old lady passed by, stopped for a second and looked at me. Then broke into a HUGE smile and almost SANG a jolly 'HELLOOOOO' and smiled so wide, that I could tell that those teeth were indeed false :D I mean - what an amazing town. Had this been in Copenhagen, the old lady would have grabbed a firm grip of her bag in fear of me standing there to wait for a defenceless person to rob. But NOT in budleigh salterton, no! I know it might sound like a very little thing, and it only took a couple of seconds, but it really meant a lot to me, and I actually thought it was very descriptive of how the entire stay in England was.

But on to the party. First of all, a massive thanks to everybody who made this happen. I know you worked your brittish hinies off to make sure we as guests, had an amazing time there. The venue is brilliant and even though we had to be quiet a night (a perfectly understandable request, I might add!) and smoke at the other side of the building, it really proved to be a fantastic place for a demoparty. Please do whatever it takes to keep the party at that location. Even if it requires even more flowers and sweet-talking the neighbors :p

I could ofcourse go into the usual hard facts on how great the PA system was (even though a bit heavy on bass, I think) and how good the projector was and how fantastic the free coffee was and so on and so forth, but others already stated the obvious. So I'll just finish this, already WAY too long message, with a very special thanks to entire Budleigh Salterton and the people travelling to it for the weekend, for being part of an event, that really made a difference to me. If I'll return, you ask? DEFINITELY!

Does anyone have that .D64 of 4-mat & Jellica's demo? It needs adding on here & csdb.

...and I completely agree with Punqtured, Budleigh is a really nice sleepy village and has a beautiful seaside. Also, an old couple came to me and Dagone outside asking with great interest what the party was all about. We did our best to explain to them, heheh. It's nice to see outsiders taking an interest in what we do. :) Also, yes, "land-lady" is the right meaning.

Sundown hasn't lost any of its charme compared to previous years, while there seemed to have been less visitors in total this time there were also significant more people from abroad, which is fantastic!

I loved everything about the party: the people, the well-known location "by the sea", the addition of the executable music competition ... and I've had lots of drinks and interesting talks with many people about all sorts of stuff .. fell, ne7, Lycan, xtrium, lug00ber, gasman, h0ffman, SavannaH, Kabuto, Deathboy and many many more!

Big shout out to Steve for letting us crash at his place the day before the party. Ruairi and his team did everything to keep us happy and entertained, nevermind the compo delays and hiccups here and there, wasn't a big deal. And speaking about compos, most of the entries were amazing, I especially enjoyed how versatile the music compos turned out, great stuff guys!

Oh, and I also didn't expect to win the music compo, haha .. that was a wonderful surprise :D I've finalized the full length version of the track, you can download it here! (MP3 @ 320kb/s, 15MB, 06:29) I'll add this along with the compo version and my executable track to scene.org shortly.

Hope to see you all again next year! <3
