Looking for films with computers

category: offtopic [glöplog]
The first one I saw about 20 years ago. There was a small boy, who was a kind of clever or genuis. In one scene he was playing on the C64 all the time. The game he played was Yie Ar Kung Fu. In another scene he was in a hospital and his dad brought him a new computer - a laptop. Then he was hacking or something on it.

The second one is more known, but I don't remember its name though. It's about a boy who is very interested in computers. He has an Apple II and acts as a kind of young hacker.

Both films should be American.

No idea, Factor6, about the film you asked for.

But, just following the nice topic...

In Torrente 2, Misión en Marbella.

Torrente has a C64 in his office.

And Spinelli's yacht has some Macs screens in its walls.

@Luis: Very good film!

Also, MacGyver is also a C64 user.

@ham: it seems that could be it! But I was searching for the Takeover and found nothing on the net except that Czech preview.

And the second one is War Games, yes. I just forgot its name :)

Btw. this Czech film Pani Edisoni (Misters Edisons) (1987) is full of computers :)

"Billion Dollar Brain" was a bad computer movie, but I'd warmly recommend it for Finns, esp. those from Helsinki, since you can spot so many familiar locations there.

i think there is an Apple in the medical scene in the movie Fletch. For about 5-10 seconds. If its not an Apple I dont know what it is.

If you want greek trash movie (the greek matrix) just for the laughs :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lctch51dPy0
Features some early game music (C64? but not so well sounding) and 8bit fonts.

In the beginning of "Damnation Alley" (1977 post-nuclear war flick) there is a war room with terminals sputtering raw memory dumps at operators. I'm too lazy to link to imdb but there's pretty nice photo effects in it so it's worth watching at least once.

Bugoptimus reminded me of another Greek movie with a lot of scenes with computers: BIOS και πολιτεία.

(The protagonist has entered a public service building and rigged a computer to some explosives, which would detonate unless his demands were met or he entered some passwords periodically. So, lots of scenes featuring 1988 PCs)

Polish film called "Lowca: ostatnie starcie" (Hunter: last encounter) from 1993 tells a story of a kid who recives a Gameboy game that has much to do with his life, and the fate of his family depends on the kid's success in the game itself. Lots of probably Amiga gameplay and graphics, some old PC's. Entertaining film for a young audience ( well at least it was ). That's probably the last movie my Ma' took me to theater, good memories.

Gargaj: That's an awesome read by the way. Same tends to apply to most of what Mr. Stross publishes.

uncle-x: Personally I thought it wasn't that good, the premise was intriguing but then basically it never went beyond that and the ending itself was eye-gougingly awful.
