bdk/superplek: are you serious ? I had that KB once before and it sucked (broke after a couple of months of intense hacking)

I just ordered me a BB Image
let's see if it is worth that 30 bucks..

..typing this on my RS6000 (which has so far not failed me)

From the original thread ... turns out this is no longer $30 (or €30). It's more in the range of $69-$99, and almost everyone has the EU model, as pictured. Some random Amazon 3rd party seller has the GB model listed, but the product pictures are of the EU model. And the final killer? It looks like the body is made of metal, but reviews indicate it's all plastic! Apple's keyboards are cheaper. (wow, Apple is cheaper than something finally? ;)
Manual quote attribution failure. :-/ Can we get issue 34 licked? :)

Maybe there's a similar setting available in other OSes to switch it? Or have you tried switching it in OSX and then going back to windows/whatever? Sometimes the setting is stored in PRAM instead of on disk, it might work.

Nah. I tried that on your suggestion, keyboard is "dumb". Would be weird if anything was stored on it, though. I don't really mind having to press fn to get at the function keys, if it had really annoyed me I would have already bothered to figure out how to remap the keys.
here are some good too, http://pouet.net/topic.php?which=2794&page=1&x=21&y=14

buyed the one above, used it for one day, and then put it away. i really dont liked typing on it.

had the cherry stream xt for 2 years, cost under 20 bucks, it is very heavy and stable + the thinkpad like typing rules.

im now on a cherry g80 with black-mx switches which do not click. so far the best i've ever had

HD aspect ratio + RGB distort

clickety clack!
I have one of those mac keyboards already for when I do occasional work on a mac mini. Personally, I don't get on with them too well. They're too low profile and flat for me. I end up getting sore wrists after a while.

I can only seem to find info in German on the 'das' keyboard. Is each key an LED?

..aaand you can put it in your dishwasher if it's dirty! (did that twice already - without soap-tab of course - still perfectly working)

venom: i had a few of those dell keyboards at my last job, they're ok, but their are *far* better keyboards than this.

I think you're thinking of the Optimus keyboard, which had a mini OLED screen in each key. The concept had the space-bar and other long keys having key-sized screens, but I guess cost and practicality resulted in the final screen size being the same for all keys. It is no longer for sale, tmk, but cost several thousand dollars anyway.

The Das Keyboard's claim is they make a keyboard which will take eternity to wear out even if you're hard on it, uses mechanical switches, and can come with no letters on the keys. They're not the first to have any of these options. Perhaps the most stylish, though.
AMcBain: thanks for the info :) No letters on the keys at all? Isn't that a total nightmare to use?

I may be odd for liking the microsoft natural keyboards.. I own three of the original pros (finnish layout), but I've tried the new black one and it's pretty nice too. Once you hack the weird "zoom" thingy to scroll instead, at least.

not sure on these blank keyboards. I type mostly without looking at the keyboard because I know where the standard keys are, and it would be cool to move some keys to better positions. On the other hand, there are those rare keys where I do have to look. Would I ever remember where they are?

blank keyboard are really nice if you do switch between keyboard layouts depending on what you do / language you write in.
