Outline 2011 Opening Ceremony

If you call pizza/kebap (from a Turkish guy) and french fries Dutch food, it indeed is crap.

Real Dutch food is awesome! Boerenkool! <3

The only real downside for me was the non-availability of listening/viewing back music/demo's before voting.

im a raging vegetarian and i did fine at outline i think (even though my bread and cheese diet makes life very easy in holland, which has pwn cheese). I dont know if the fridge was unofficial, but if it was then it could be awesome to have several (since it probably would fill up very fast if everyone started doing it).

also the hapkar was WONDERFUL even for hippies like me <3

rasmus is wrong, there is nothing wrong with this party

also, dipswitch's music on saturday was so fucking awesome for partying!
added on the 2011-06-06 12:34:39 by thec thec
which music was that thec? .. cause the 90'ies music was AWESOME and the the reggae took our mood and heartbeat down to a zero, so if it's that music you're talking about, I completely disagree.
added on the 2011-06-06 12:38:40 by dwarf dwarf
thec, i just mentioned it as quick wins that could make the party even better.

dwarf, dipswitch did the reggae session.
i didn't only play reggae (apart from the first 2 tracks and the last half hour), but uk funky / post-dubstep / house most of the time actually (i think that's what you considered "90s music", dwarf). considering that it was constantly between 130 and 140 bpm, you should hire a gabber dj next time if you want more "uptempo music" outside. :)

Quote:
- download more videos instead of looping metropolis for 4 days

I call BS on this since we put over 30GB of capped.tv AND the entire dhs.nu video library on random shuffle whenever we could. So, what gives? :p

What I meant with 90s music was Captain Jack, Snap and so on.

About playing MICROpolis all the time, is not that inaccurate as it sound, all we noticed being played outside over and over was micropolis and jizz, sometimes also pulse, but mostly those two. So I'm with Rasmus on this one.

okkie, what the hell is on the last picture? Some sort of tutti frutti?
I'm Dutch and I sure as hell don't recognise it..
Kinda the same applies for the second picture.. Fried potatoes (or appels? :s) with corned beef?

nic0: the fridge between the pinball machine (which was awesome! Thanks Franky!) and the stage, was provided by Outline :) (So we could keep the fridge behind the bar and in the kitchen free for our own stuff ;-))

xylo: I agree about the lack of pre-voting download possibility.. Things didn't go as smoothly with the upload system this year, but they compoteam did their best at trying to solve the issues.
I'll check if I can help out with improving the current PMS we're using, so things hopefully will go smoother next year in that area.

@dwarf Outside? That was a visitors beamer/numtek? Not official, I thought your complaint was towards the actual party beamer.
added on the 2011-06-06 13:42:41 by m0d m0d
Everyone was free to plug whatever in my beamer we used outside.
But yeah I only brought Jizz,Metropolis and Sunflower, before I connected to the partynetwork. So next time tell me! Bring your laptop and hook it up!

And about the music: I normally play hardcore gabber teKKno. I played kinda loungy because I thought you guys liked that,. if only people asked me to play some more gabebr than the 45sec I did as a joke I could have played some more, since that is what I do : making and spinning hardcore teKKno. :)

Anyway, constructive critism is always good, next year if everyone agrees I could do a harder set and leave the softer stufff out.

Thanks everyone for making this edition an awesome experience again, I'm so much looking forward to Outline 2012! Oh and also thanks everyone for voting our demo to the number one spot, love you!

And yes, my beamer was onoffical.

THANK YOU for the awesome party! I don't have absolutely anything to complain about, it was just perfect (for many reasons) :) <3 Great weather, great people, great atmosphere, great organizers, great partyplace, great prods! Better be already booking my flights for next years as well!

Outline is a great example if the party is great, you don't really even notice that there's no Internet available (referring to rasmus' list). 3G was enough to go shout the mandatory “JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!” on IRC at times ;)

… and seriously, if you're gonna whine that the food at a demoparty was 'inedible', especially when there's shops nearby open every day, maybe you should stay home next time...

Jenni, I wanted to say what you did, I just resisted making it so "in-your-face"ish, but I do agree 100% on the last one :)
added on the 2011-06-06 13:55:08 by dwarf dwarf
Jenni: What 3G? There was no 3G... GPRS/2G only :-)

Not that it matters. I had a good time. If you don't like the food, there are plenty of restaurants nearby. From somewhat decent to very decent.

@rasmus:
The signs might indeed be a nice idea, will add it to my own list of improvement ideas for next year.
As for internet: since we are in the middle of nowhere, cellphone reception is rather crappy. I did look into renting a mobile UMTS box last year, but the ones I found had no way of prohibiting roaming, and had a large extra fee in case you were roaming and as the party place is quite close to the Belgian border (and thus can pick up Belgian mobile operators), it could've got quite expensive. Haven't looked into it for this year though.
The owner of the party place did have a landline internet connection, but not a quick one. You don't want to be hogging all of that while he actually has to also use it for business. Besides that, you are there to party, code, make music and have fun with people face 2 face, not to watch porn on the internet :P

As for the videos: there was indeed a huge archive of videos playing on random, but maybe we can check if we can prevent played videos from being re-played when on random.

I don't think much can be improved on the pizza-supplier, apart from maybe doing more/shorter waves.
Looking for a second kind of food supplier might improve the variety of food available, and the delivery times, but will most likely increase the costs as well, since you can't guarantee as big a order for them. I think we had a pretty sweet deal with Amon now with all pizzas being just 7,50 (even the more expensive ones). Not to mention increasing the extra hassle that comes with having multiple food sources.
People are free to arrange for their own food. Organising the pizza waves is just an extra service provided by us so you can get a better deal, and prevent the foodplace from going crazy from all the separate orders ;-).

As for the Fanta cans, it's more of an in-crowd joke I guess. :) However, I do like your idea of having some form of printed award or other kind of memorabilia that lasts longer than it takes to drink a Fanta. :P I'll add this to my list as well.

dwarf: People should learn to respect that there even is food available at the party place, since it shouldn't be taken for granted. Complaining like "Bohoo I can't eat this, I want more exotic food" makes me feel that people don't respect the organizers' efforts in the first place, and it pisses me off.

FiXato: It's hutspot, balkenbrij and watergruwel.
