what do you think about remixes?

I think I don't care

well in rock and pop music you have cover versions. i like some of those a lot (and to play them myself too). the difference is that 100% of the sound is new and the songwriting stays the same.

with remixes in electronic music some of the sounds stay the same and the songwriting changes. maybe that's my problem with them, the sounds feel dislocated.

also, thanks for the posted remixes :)
one slow piece i really like is this. (the bassline in the second half is ace)

my opinion about remixes is that they are pieces of music that are more or less similar to the original work

Like music in general remixes can be boring, but a good remix can add something interesting to a track.

Fx. several of the hyperbased remixes i still hear because they changed persepctive.

Another example is the stuff Virgill^Cons made for the Jailhouse musicdisk.

The Demovibes stuff is also good, and i really enjoy some of daXX's, and other peoples, remixes over at remix64.org and amigaremixes.

So yeah... i like both the original and the remixes, if they are done right. :)

i think that the syntax errol compost remix of "milla" by some finnish singer is really cool.

Really nice remix , but it's repeating the same things over and over again ... where's the part of " I don't need nobody telling me just what I wanna ... " ??? it's the best part ... the song is awesome ( best britney song ) but this remix doesn't honor it ... what a shame .

*sigh* :)

That original Lamb "video is not available in your country." Let's travel abroad to see what the Internet is like there.

there is a "Pump Panel Reconstruction Remix" of a track by New Order, featured in the bloodbathscene of Blade, of which I never heard the original, but knowing New Order I am pretty sure that the remix is hell better. Cant remember the name of the song right now though. "Confusion" maybe?

Also there is a Hardfloor Remix of New Order´s Blue Monday, which brings an all new twist to that classic track.

Emmanuel Top did a great remix of "The Age of Love", which cant be compared to the original though, because it is something totally different. Both versions totally rule.

BT (Brian Transeau) did some interesting remixes, so did Paul van Dyk; but remixing U2, Depeche Mode or Rammstein (as PvD did) most of the times turns into crap.

Remixing demos imho most of the times turns into poor parody or jokeprods and therefore sucks. The only remixdemo I can remember which ruled was the one from Haujobb, featured on Mindcandy, again, cant clearly remember the name right now :)
