Exporting from demopaja

category: general [glöplog]
I've been playing with demopaja over the last couple hours with some success but I'm unsure as to how to make a final executable player. Mind you I'm not very code literate nor does it seem that I need to be to get this to work. Pointers?
just rename your .dmo to demo.dmo and place it beside the bundled standalone player

to do a true exe file with a demopaja project (.dmo) you MUST know how to code it, take a look to the SDK i think it is explained (or ask a coder wich know how to do it like Memon of course or other sceners wich code for demopaja graphical interface)

(and never listen the stupid lamers wich said demopaja did not need code, you must code the exe player and to have new effects, you must code them by yourself)
zone: ever tried to code with the Demopaja SDK? :)

I did, i'm not using demopaja or the SDK in my prods... but i've tried it and you actually _need_ to code. Anyway my personal opinion is that demopaja is the best demotool ever released to the public.

I'm slowly becoming a Demopaja fan lately too. Even if you don't use it to release demos it's a fantastic tool for plotting out design ideas, textures and sequencing etc to see how they look in motion before entering the coding stage.

I think there will always be a stigma attached to Demopaja releases and that's a shame because a lot of great and original ideas could be (and already have been) realized with this tool.

I guess if something like Legomania can be made in demopaja it must be good. After all it placed 1st at asm03. I've also noted on two fronts that demoscener's aren't as picky about the tools they use as myth might have it. For instance my poser post.

I appreciate the help guys! Maybe I'll do up a quick "getting started" tutorial in Scene Zine for demopaja... Anyone else interested in writing demoscene tutorials?
Many are interested, but not many have time. :)

So if something places 1st at a demoparty it's automatically good?

Yes, especially if it's the only entry.
No. If it places first at Assembly, the largest demo party of the year, then it's good.
moppi!!!!!!!

Patrick Groove: Although, ofcourse, the amount of sceners present at Assembly is neglible compared to the amount of gamers.

I wouldn't blame gamers so fast on silly compo results, when you have things like:

http://pouet.net/prod.php?which=10743
and
http://pouet.net/prod.php?which=5599

happening in "sceners' only" parties

Knos: You can blame those on the c64 sceners present at the time. :)

demopaja is beginning to grow on me really. it doesn'ttake away the coding aspect, it can just sit as a framework so you can code your effects, put your design together and a lot of the donkey work is taken away from you.

for people who want to be creative as opposed to reinventing the wheel every time it can only be a good thing.

of course there is the downside that people will churn out generic crap using the example effects....
wel the problem i have with demopaja is that i don't trust it performance-wise and i hate ogl :)
