I can't believe how crappy the net is here at the partyplace. Downloading ultrascheisse over the local FTP at 40 kb/s (!)

40 kb/s? 5 years ago that would have been a dream to me ;-)

seriously, bp needs to break the tradition of playing every pc demo they get. the bottom 5-10 can have their own little fun compo. :)

come on phoenix, it's only 1 am at breakpoint time, the demo compo wasn't too long at all :p

Showing all the prods is not only a tradition, it's also builds the climax for the "real" stuff. It's really cool that the BP compo crew sorts the entries.

Just one request : having an approximation of the number of entries to know that there are N-ish entries in each compo. Not the exact number, that would spoil the fun.

Actually I thik that this years demo copo was great, even with quite a lot of entries.

What I noticed was:

1. Almost everyone took advantage of the full HD screen - maybe it's just me - but it really seemed so to me.

2. The "mediocre" demos didn't continue for like 10 minutes (=boring)

3. Also I think that almost all demos actually had some kind of cool/nice effect and/or scene in it - which really (for me) made it a very nice PC deo compo.

Oh, and... chheeeeeeeeeeeers! - hail to the danish (4k) intro domination @ BP 2008!

it's good to not know how many entries there are going to be. it positively adds to the tension. same goes for pre-sorting procedure which the jury always performs, even though that _might_ take some influence on how the crowd votes afterwards, since the later the entry, the better the suggested quality.

Great demos with particularly cool musics.
Widespread good use of cubes, ribbons and nice uses of glitched music<->visuals.
Then the plastic demo was just O_O

Cubes and ribbons all around! Great compos this year. Especially 4k which completely blew me away.

loaderrors entry is an amiga .exe, not a pc one :)

I like the system with the demos sorted from worst to best, that way we get both a little bit of jury-voting, and it also builds the tension like crazy when you watch the compo "OK, was that the last demo, or will there be an even better one???".

However I think the sorting was a bit off. The 'light-bulb-dude'-demo was NOT the second worst demo in the compo by far.

i like that the order in the pc demo compo is a bit scrambled, otherwise the first hour or so would be quite dull

RESPECT to Drifters! The #2 (soliloquy) deserved to be #1 ... however Drifters demo was not bad at all [funny and great idea] but it was not the best... that was Soliloquy by far.

Drifters thumbs up for being so kind to praise the real comp. winner.
I think what Drifters did was stupid. They won fair and square and should have accepted their price as the real winners. Mocking the polish guys like this maybe be true scene spirit but it's stupid to do on stage imo.
