blkpanther me beautiful

category: general [glöplog]
blkpanther, your script doesn't seem to process the '+' sign (and probably other characters) correctly, see Lemmings +2P that was incorrectly archives as Lemmings by Psychnosis.

strange indeed. i will have a look on that now
i think it was adding this one "http://noname.c64.org/csdb/group/?id=1409"...still i dunno where it found lemmings
http://noname.c64.org/csdb/rss/groupreleases.php?id=1409 << here we go...another csdb bug in my eyes
Commercial companies arent supposed to be in csdb and not games unless they are a scene release. So lemmings/psygnosis shouldnt have been on csdb to begin with, and the csdb link on the pouet entry didnt work when I tried it so it looks to me like a production which was there but has been removed.

Originally it was pointing to http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=6011, which does not exist. I used the download link to reconstruct what I thought your script was trying to add, but I also can't find that download link anywhere in csdb, it's different from the ones on http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=10809 eventhough the filename matches.

hollowman: ah, ok, that makes sense, someone probably added the crack as a full game, which is why the download links match

yes sorry for that. :(

partys / party year as well as the rank should be added now as well
can you modify the "no party" in the past ones too? i don't think so..

guess i can, but csdb already crys for the traffic i make...
adding the partys would mean to parse all entries again as they dont appear in rss feeds
no, you can't do that, you would need gloperator rights. but maybe ps can unset the noparties for all the past entries with an sql query so everyone can at least help setting them correctly manually.

I always used the Random-Button to get Releases i havent seen yet...
...and after CSDB will be integrated i´ll get MOSTLY not-that-good-stuff from now on,i guess :/
...and writing a tool/bot isnt too hard i´d say,so many ppl could have done that...so i´d say dont let a BOT stand on TOP of the "Top of the GlöpZ".!!

...but i leave that decision to the pouet-guys.!
argh, ye Xed my plans, gratz ! for all da adds ;-D

god damn i dont care for the glöps ....

once again remove them...i don't care at all...i just want to make pouet more complete.
thanX :)
...its just that real-users deserve it more to be on Top.!
^i guess you know what i mean.!

thanX again...but on the other Hand i could just go to CSDB...lol...!
sure you can just go to csdb, but e.g. even my group razor 1911 had missing entries that have only been in csdb. ppl who come here to have a look for a groups releases would see an incomplete list if noone adds it.

and most pouet is afaik the #1 source if ppl look for demo scene releases
CSDB also has more info than pouet.net (like author crediting), so there is still a reason to go there.

as if someone asked you to fill pouet's base with a bot ...
i don't think you're helpful
you wanna do it by hand? fine! well do it then and i stop my tool.
guardian, i disagree. all of it is part of the scene, and it's great that it helps pouet's database to be more complete. granted, if it had been done with a little bit more communication with some gloperators, little details might've gone more smoothly, but this seems like a genuine attempt to help.

the problem is not how its done, the problem is where from the data is fed. nobody cares about csdb related prods and no one ever will.

blkpanther, warning, trollbite.

haha i have just been waiting for stefan and his fans to come along.
so if every c64 release is worthless to you...it has to be for anyone else.

i knew it would end in a useless discussion with guys like you.
i better stop posting here as its a waste of time
i never said it wasn't a genuine attempt to help

however, we'll see the workload it generates on gloperators shoulders
besides that, what's the consequence on both sites bandwith and quotas ?
blckpanther: Another bugfix: I see you're also adding papermags: http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=38764 as diskmags.
