ComputeriZed: The movie

category: general [glöplog]
I've once heard there was some movie about to the demoscene. It was a stupid love story, in which a teenage guy was to decide between his two Amigas, the computer one and the flesh one, and of course he chose the latter... yea, stupid. But it was the first, and so far the only movie about the demoscene. As far as I know, it's titled 'ComputeriZed'. Don't someone have it?

Another thing: there's a more famous movie titled '23'. It was shown on the Mekka-Symposium 2000 Party. Can someone spotlight the connection between the filmmakers and the demoscene? (Maybe Steeler reads this?)

about 23 - i suspect they were just watching out for a location that looks like a copy-/hackerparty .. i read the book, saw the movie and the making of the movie, they didn't really say anything special about the demoscene, neither about the mekka symposium were they filmed the small scene. (didn't even notice the filming team was there, since i know fabian busch)

i don't really know, but i think there is no explicit connection between demoscene and that movie. i think it is more like '23' is a general computer/hacker/c64/nerd/whatever related movie.

I remember I read about computerized in an old amiga diskmag (the name I have forgotten sorry..).

All they wrote was that the movie was in production. I did a search on google and could not find anything so I suppose that movie were never made anyway.

"We're Sorry
Despite our exhaustive attempts to find what you were looking for, we came up with no matches."

if IMDB says that, it does not exist :)

I've heard of 'Computerized' well before reading ROM 1. (that was the diskmag), but never knew the title. Some Hungarian sceners remember seeing it on HBO, ages ago.
Yes, IMDB doesn't know about this movie, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Maybe it's not American at all?

tomcat: imdb stands for International Movie Database, which also includes movies and series from outside the US (even some dutch old series as 'medisch centrum west' are on it) and ok, the movie may exist if it's not on imdb, but if it's not on there, it's not easy to find ... i guess..

imdb has every shit, even 70's german pr0n...:P

i checked imdb for the film too, but it found nothing... so it really seems not to exist...

Hm, then the title is probably not 'Computerized'. Maybe that was a work title or something. But many sceners remember seeing it, among them Lord of Absolute, as he told me about this movie first.

The connection between MekkaSymposium and the movie 23 is that in the movie there is a scene where the two maincharacters get thrown out of the train at a deserted trainstation on their trip from hamburg to hannover. that trainstation is "fallingbostel".

btw, the school scene in "23" is filmed in my old school. the door at the right of the door where karl koch walks out is my old classroom...=)

So, that's the connection. :)

Yes, that's right. But there's also a scene that was shot at some demoparty, referred in the movie as a hacker meeting. Don't you know which one was that?

that hackermeeting in "23" seems to be an early copyparty.
i´ve just scanned a picture from the "23" soundtrack wich shows that meeting.

could be a normal film set.

i´m very shure it´s a filmset, because of all those computers are early 80´s models. even the pepsi tin on one of the tables is an 80´s version.
in the next days i will check in which year this meeting took place nd then i´ll check if the games that are played on the c64s where already released at that time :)

it's not an early copyparty. at least not in my definition of 'early', since there are actors from the late 90s in the pic.

Wow! Find the movie now :)

dalezy: of course it´s a film-set from the the late 90´s (1998 me thinks). i just want to check how acurate the filmmakers worked on that scene.
i will also have a closer look at the computers, monitors and so on.
