Open Source Demos

category: general [glöplog]

I've been asked to collate some open source demos for this years LUGRadio Live. I'm looking for Linux demos preferably, and obviously this is easy to look for using Pouet.

However, I've got to make about 8 hours worth of demo recordings to play - if not record them, then create a python script or something to autoplay them on a Linux box.

Has anyone does this before on the Linux platform (I know there was DemoDVD once for Windows), if not, any recommendations for cool demos to show on the screens around the event?

How can we? The only thing I hate about the win32 port is that Gargaj never bothered to add a fr-08-esque loading tune, when he has all the crafty sneakiness to do so.

Also, I particularly loved how the few people who had to patience to wait for the caching went all "why did we have to wait that long for a flash animation?" :(

Thanks all, some stuff to go on ;)

Wish I hadn't put "Open Source Demos" now, as that's asking for a flamewar, but yeah, any Linux demos people see out there that would look good on screens around the place would be great.

When I say 8 hours - I was looking for 8 hours worth of showing, not 8 hours of material - obviously with the limited availability, there's going to be some loopage ;)

Anyway BIG thanks all!

nystep, please see no offense here, it's just a "clin d'oeil" to the group name: i was browsing random internet image stuff at the same time i read the pouet's thread
traction coders are open sourcing their engine and demos. thats cool.
