scene music stolen

Reading the page for the EFF, I would expect them to help Timbaland's right for free expression, to tell the truth.

But.. maybe: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_Lessig would be interested.

Although, of course, it brings political questions, which I guess we should expect our political parties to cover.

Yeah, we should get the Piratpartiet involved!

Oh wait, they already are :-)

U know Timbaland is for me just a music gangsta making bad r&b...
I agree, the EFF would be a mighty fine place to go to push this further, should it need to be pushed further... not sure whether they'd represent you (I understand their work is pretty US-centric, and I don't have a clue whether this case would be considered US-centric or not) but they can surely point you in the right direction.

And if you do contact them, be sure to cc Cory Doctorow. He's a SF author, campaigner against unjust copyright laws, Creative Commons proponent whose mind would probably be blown on being introduced to the demoscene (assuming he isn't already aware of it...) and generally awesome guy. Most importantly he's a co-editor of Boingboing, which is quite probably the biggest geekish website that hasn't covered this story already.

I think that only American's feel insulted when they listen to someone saying "nigger"... for me it's just another way to say african. In Africa or Asia you're "white"... for me "nigger" is an abreviation of "negro" which means "dark", which by it's way it's another word for "black". You can't take the blackness of the guy... it's almost like calling fat guy to a fat guy. He know's he's fat :D

No, saying African is “a way to say African”, in the same way saying European is a way to say European. That’s the proper way to describe people’s continental origin. By the same token, saying “a black person” is a humane way of decribing someone’s race, in the same way you’d describe a white person as being “a white person”. Follow the logic there? : ) Why would you feel the need to use “nigger” (a derogatory word invented by slave-masters) to describe a black person, when just calling him a “black person” is perfectly acceptable? Odd.

Anyway, apart from xernobyl shocking naivety, I don’t think I’ve seen anyone shining the Scene in a bad light in this particular thread. Unless I've missed something discussting :-P There’s been one or two edgy remarks about Americans (as usual) but that’s only to be expected and jibes at people’s national origin doesn’t sink to quite the same depths of depravity as racism. Although I do agree we should be a bit more tolerant of our American brethren around here, afterall, they are defending all our democracies and freedoms in the West by bombing the shit out of poor defenseless Third World countries - we should at least show them some appreciation for that! :-)

anyway, soz, back to the boring Timbaland bashing...

Gargaj: I think I have sent around fifty or sixty mails since this thing started. To bloggers, netzines, news outlets etc.. Not very many of them have carried the story though -- I think many of them think it is a non-story as long as there are no major outlets carrying it already .. which is a shame for them, missing the "exclusive". :)

One thing is clear though; the more people hear about it, the better it is for Janne.

Timbaland chilling with pavaroti
Ville Oksanen from Turre Legal just offered help:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsvegCOtj-4

both the same video really.. BUT whats the in the middle of the keyboards ?
...
..
.

looks a lot like a Sid station?!?! or is it just me.

(someone owning one.please confirm.I use a real c64)

http://www.sidstation.com/

and if your wondering... SID tune playback is possible on that unit.

if you know janne or grg pass the video links on and tell him about the thing between the 2 keyboards, I am not in direct contact even though i'm from the c64.

We all do or did stuff for the scene in many forms free, in whatever form, whatever machine people do stuff, no matter how much we insult each other about the greatness of our choosen computer.. we are all involved.

kernkraft 440- zombie nation remember that? david whittaker got royalties. nice pic dubmood but pavaroti ownz moreso ;-)
Just a word of warning: It's very important to compare and judge lawyers on their own merit *and* motives. For example, a lawyer with a specific agenda or political motive may not in the end be interested in a favorable settlement for his client, if all he is interested is making the headlines: a trial, with a net result covering his own expenses might be more useful to him.

Although I guess that type of thinking is forbidden by the profession.

Me giving up (legally) on this issue is just a misquote. I've said couple of times, that I can't discuss about the legal aspects of this issue here.

Here's a screenshot of the video for those who don't want to watch it through.

Looks like a SidStation indeed:

Oh shit, sorry tempest. I got the geste of that in a previous thread. I'll fix my first post at SA to say that there is no info available at this time.

That's a SIDStation allright, no doubt about it. He still ripped the song though, even though if he did not sample it (which I'm still not sure he didn't do, just because there is a SIDStation in his studio)

I fixed my first post at SA removing the jibbajabba about tempest's legal stuff and putting in a remark about the racist slander at the youtube links. Hope it helps.
