This is a complete new port of Bubble Bobble for OCS Amiga.

Code+Music: Pink
New logo: Fade1
Tools: Bartman

Here are some improvements over the original amiga game that you find in "Tiny Bobble":
- Needs only a "tiny" 178kb single file (the original needed a full disk)
- 50 fps (instead of 25fps)
- 32 colors (instead of 16)
- 150 items (instead of 40?)
- Original screen height of 224 pixel (was only 200 pixel)
- Almost all sprite animations (had only ~20% of animations)
- Progress Screen (was not available)
- Big Enemies animation every 16th level (was not available)
- Player Two Join animation (was not available)
- Big Score images (was not available)
- Animated Extend screen (was not animated)
- Animated Potion screen (was not animated)
- Animated Intro (was not animated)
- Animated Boss fight (was a still image)
- Multiple endings (had only one ending)

All music was done with PreTracker.

All coding was done with "Amiga C/C++ Compile, Debug & Profile" by Bartman/Abyss.

Have fun!

Yes, can't remember how the original (meaning Amiga version now not arcade) performed and looked too well but this is great indeed. Some slowdown with lot of stuff on screen, but as said, can't remember how it was in older version.

This is great! I loved the original! How the heck did they get it to run at 50fps? I'm willing to bet so many of the older games would be so much better if they could 50fps them as well.

The main trick to make it 50fps was to use a copperlist to do all blits while the cpu was using the idle cycles in parallel. The copperlist is filled on startup with static blits for certain sizes. The cpu then changes only minimum required fields to modify src+dst pointers and xshifting. Copperjumps are runtime modified to have an adjustable number of blits in this semi-static copperlist.

Right on time for game-night in the company. Promised to bring my A500, so there's an old/new game to check out. Only played Bubble Bobble on the Beadbox.

Very playable, much better than the original Amiga version. And much smaller too. :)

Very good game. I already liked the normal Amiga port of "Bubble Bobble", but this version clearly goes one step further and is very close to the Arcade original. Top work!

Wow this is really a production pushing the limits! Great tribute to the original arcade version!

I really like the idea of coin-op port makeovers. I believe there were many arcade ports that could be done much better at the time (looking at you.. US Gold!). Probably due to ridiculously tight deadlines for the original authors, but still.

An interesting release. I had the official port of Bubble Bobble on a warez disk which also contained Buggy Boy, Ikari Warriors and Carrier Command, so it certainly didn't fill the whole disk as is written on the beginning of this thread. Maybe you could elaborate?

Crackers used to onefile and then crunch their releases! Meaning, first they conglomerated all the files on a disk into one file...then they packed that file, as in zipping it.
This way there could be several games on one disk...was more common on C=64 than on Amiga, though.
The List of your games sounds like you misremembered the platform, all of them are also available on C=64. ;)
We are having a smaller Amiga-Version here, though.

^^ Defjam & CCS released a number of one-filed game compilations back then but I vaguely remember that I also had the same disk you mentioned.

In any case, great release ! (can't thumb it up again :))

nice
Great enhancement of one of my favorite games. But isn't the warning mode (when enemies turn red and agitated) a bit faster than I remember it?

So who will release a trainer for this game in 2020? :)

Excellent work guys! Extra portion of Abyss taken! :)
rulez added on the 2020-09-07 00:18:18 by magic magic
@El Topo, HD-Disks are not good for the floppys of the Amiga, better use DD ones. :)
added on the 2020-09-08 09:26:20 by AW87 AW87
AW87: First time I hear that and I have been using HD disks (formatted to DD capacity) since the 90's. What is it that's not good for the drive with them?

When I have DD disks available I use them but they are hard to come by these days and this MS Office crap I found in the trash at work :)

@El Topo, it's known thing in the Amiga community that Amiga floppys are made for DD disks, this is also the reason, why you must past-over the second hole on the disk, when you want to use a HD disk on a Amiga-floppy. This thing is discussed in alot retro-forums. Look for example here, when you write "hd disks on Amiga" in the search-engine and you get alot interesting links about this thing:
https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=using+hd+disks+on+amiga +drives
