Nice to see more demos from those 8bit atari's, they have the most impressive stuff on 8bits, however I wondered why most of the effects are in those ugly scanline modes? Is it because of some videomode??? I'd like to see regular pixeled effects with more colors than the same one gradient..

Presumably its so you only have to calculate half the number of scanlines per frame. Like render frame 1 on the even scanlines, frame two on odd etc. etc.

actually, though the scanline rendering, each scanline is drawn twice, which actually ends with a kind of 4x4 rendering virtually reducing the resolution to 56x36.

Well yes of course it's just a way to gain speed, but have many people tried to code pixel effects? Are there color restrictions? Can there be effects with more than a gradients of one single color? Most of the atari8bit demos looked so equally in this aspect, that I thought it was a special videomode or something..

if you looked at the screenshot, you'd have seen from the frames with the cube and the rotozoom that it's not a special video mode as some texts are interleaved between the scanlines and the scroll text isn't rendered in scanlines.
