DED approved!

Massive, rare but excellent example of storytelling on ZX demoscene...

A little bit slow and too much text of coz, but this is a question of design.
Keep on brothers! Let's bring iconical Relic-like action to ZX!

+1 thumb for .NFO

@Dalthon Thanks so much for the compliment, I appreciate it.
The texts are in the demo intentionally to complement what's happening on the screen.
There are a reasonable number of them so that it does not look like a text editor :-)
The speed of the demo is slow, corresponding to the scenario and hardware capabilities of ZX Spectrum.
Thank you very much for your feedback !!!
love it! Great job guys! Unique demo for the platform!

Demo with highest frames:code ratio ever seen, and all that in 3D. Excellent. Reading file_id.diz tells the remaining part of the story, recommended reading.

And... all that omegisms, mr. kew, hollistown and other things are back!

The overall concept represents a surprising departure into dystopian tech noir genre. Though it could use a bit more pace I recognize the technical challenge arising from the humble amount of memory and the need for on-the-fly decompression. The combination of Academy-like renderer and bitmap backdrops feels refreshing. It doesn't feel like a half-assed effort and the thumbs up is well deserved.

ZX Scene is not exactly spoiled by narrative-rich demos, so this definitely fills a void.

Personally, I found it slow and a little boring, which is probably exactly the feel the authors were aiming at (e.g. think about the first ~1hr of "Alien"), so it is hard to complain about that. It is properly storyboarded, has a ton of decent (some great) graphics and is visualized using a very fresh-looking technology (Pete Cooke never developed his idea this far).

Put simply, this is a top-flight demo that no-one expected and that breaks many expectations. It is frankly amazing to see something like this. Guys, thank you very much and I secretly hope pt.2 will do to this demo something similar to what "Aliens" did to "Alien".

I was called to this project just few weeks ago when Omega has finished whole demo and he need to solve last but not least issue: how the hell to put that Pinky's opus utilising 23 kilos to very (VERY!) limited free memory and even while I worked on a that specific PT3 player swapping the patterns on-the-fly, I didn't see the demo - so to be clear: it's not a self-voting from me!
I've been a big fan of space and slow sci-fi films about space since I was young. In the times when I spent hours&hours in day at the Speccy I was dreamed about some kind of program that would look like a movie from outer space (you know: big suns, planets, spaceships...) but I was fully aware of all the limitations of platform so it was just reverie...
Let's rewind to present and Omega sending me a first build of demo for system tests and... and I'm astonished, goosebumps even on my butt and with tears of emotion in the eyes. My dreams come truth. He was able to break so much technical challenges to tell the story like in all the dark space themed movies that I like and put it all to 80 kilobytes with an 11 minute long soundtrack. I'm speechless and grateful to have been able to experience this.

Thank you for such a positive feedback. I knew from the start that it won't be "a beam chasing" action demo. I personally like Alien and Prometheus movies thus the pace is rather slower.

We just released final version. There are a couple of fixes in the final version worth mentioning:

Improved HW compatibility
⦁ One binary file for all compatible models (128 /+2 /+3 /Pentagon /Next)
⦁ CPU detection (CMOS, NMOS, Z80N)
⦁ ZX Spectrum Next: Sets AY and ACB stereo
⦁ Demo won't work on slow machines and fast machines

Faster attribute faders (thanks to Ped7G for optimizations)

Text corrections and minor visual fixes

Invaders 3D stand :)

Updated fileid.diz - make sure to check it out :)

Totally unexpected to see it at the party/stream. Strong direction and atmosphere and very clever 3d.

Welcome back, OMEGA! And hope to see more!

X-cellent! You really see all the passion that went into it. Soft fullscreen movements/zoom, clever transitions from color to monochrome to not cause attribute clashes, cool hires gfx. Well-deserved 1st place.

Great engine. Really AMAZING what it can do.
A LOT of time had to be spent here on this production. Unfortunately, I did not get the demo entirely nor the story it has... =/
Good final tune, as well.

I thumb the effort and the engine (and the final tune;).
