After seeing Mahjong/CargoSoft flickering graphic modes are a bit outdated ;)

The best PinballGame on Amstrad for sure.

I couldn't believe it on the CTM-644-2 and that yellowed 6128 with old logo, a little miracle.. I'm really impressed and it's only a preview. Madness!!!!!
I'm scared by the CPC now, it's like 1989 again and impossible stuff I remember on the ST...
Huge thumb up! Thank you <3

Definitively a game I will play. Really close to the original :)

Don't want to start a polemic, but I feel like real fullscreen could be somewhat technically achievable, maybe there is a missed opportunity here. ** BUT ** since I don't have complete overview of the game (especially in term of memory footprint), I'm just expressing a doubt here. I may be completely wrong :)

I really look forward for final version.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback!

@Beb
Well, I really do not know if it could get a better result for the intro screens using EGX because they need colors out of the standard CPC palette. I would try, if there were a quick way of testing in EGX, perhaps it is possible to add these modes to Perfect Pix, in order to paint/convert screens more easily.

@moonshine
Everything is possible in CPC!

@norecess
Current in-game screen are 69632 pixels (mode 1), more than the standard 64000 (320x200). Any way, I agree with you about a wider screen would be much better. I think it would be possible to do it 2 or 4 characters wider, sacrificing some speed, it is mainly a memory issue (speed is no problem, about only half a frame is consumed). But still I can not know if there would be enough memory, I first have to finish the current board, PD is a very demanding game in many ways, for example, I have reserved a buffer of 14kb for musics and sfxs of a board, due to the amount of jingles and sfxs required. And the game must support the four boards, so the required memory for the current board is only an approximation. The same goes for the gfxs of lights, it is still possible that some of the missing boards need more memory for this than the current board.

@Rhino yep, thanks for the explanations. I think a wider screen would not actually improve gameplay, so better off to focus on finishing the game first :)

Nice. This could be a hit in the Amstrad app store.
rulez added on the 2016-10-31 13:41:52 by yzi yzi
@Rhino: I understand, you wanted to have a lot of color... Nice
Supersylvestre have already shown us this kind of mode, years ago.

It could be a nice improvement in your perfect pixel tool if you add this EGX mode. (And a new commandline converter, a bit more easier)

Thanks.

Hmmm, I see here more hype than C64 Pinball Dreams preview which was released ten years ago... Additionally C64 version used only 64 kB RAM and 1 Mhz CPU.

@nitrofurano I suggest using WinAPE if you are using Win32/64.

Very good..! Amstrad CPC has in some aspects quite nice hardware! Because of that up/down scrolling with huge bitmap is so easy. But please, pretty please: consider doing this in EGX ("320x200" with 16 colors) as in Imperial Mahjong. That game raised technical level quite a bit. ;-)

Would be graphically far better off _and_ wouldn't sacrifice any memory. (And how about ball with sub-pixel rendering/anti-alias?) You could probably squeeze in sample playback in the music player as well (as a side-effect). Huge work, of course. =P

Wow. Just W-O-W!
I truly admire your skills and dedication!
I personally do not have a CPC but I would buy one to play it on a real hw! =)

@Rhino:
Do you reverse-engineer the amiga source code and adapt/improve it for the Schneider's CPU? Seem most probable knowing it is aimed to be as closed amiga-like as possible.
Anyway, GOOD LUCK!
Waiting with impatience to se the final (or even 9o%) result!

Hi!,

Batman Group is proud to present our new division for the game development "BG Games".

BB Image

This new brand arises from the need to show the world the true potential of CPC as gaming machine.

Pinball Dreams will be the first of our releases. Finished since November, we're just waiting to close a deal with the giant Rebellion to bring the CPC the official version of the famed classic on which industry legends like 21st Century Entertainment or DICE were founded.

The wait will be worth it...

In the meantime, we'd like to show you a new little preview in this video teaser:
