the effect looked nice. didn't really go anywhere though

Not very good looking, especially due to the garish rgb distortion. Robots and vocoders are also a turnoff for me, except in more self-conscious cases. Had some cool ideas in it though, I think... I forgot already.

That was very un-ASD. Nice tricks up the sleeve.

This demo feels like Zden's and I like it (not for the fact, but in general)

Good little prod from ASD!

It's the B-side of ASD (or C-side... I don't know how many sides you have), and I like it :) And it was so so great to see you guys name in Tokyo!!

Not bad but doesn't really work for me. Basically, what Blueberry said.

Trippy demo with some ASD tastes! Simple effects, but really cool. I want to play it on my Android

Lovely smaller demo. A b-side is a good description :)

Hi all!

This is our contribution to Tokyo DemoFest 2016. It is a demo originally written for Android (link to follow) using a platform called Defold ( http://www.defold.com/ ). The windows "port" was to run it at the party - the demo should really be watched on small phone, ideally a Samsung S6 or Note4.
I think it works better with the higher resolution and higher contrast that the device has to offer.
added on the 2016-02-23 10:53:53 by Navis Navis
just tried it on my android. fps fairly decent! didn't feel like an asd production which is refreshing.

I liked it. Fun little Demo :)

Quite nice buildup but repetitive here and there.
But I like the minimal flow in the music and the rhythm elements.

not bad
rulez added on the 2016-02-23 12:17:55 by a-move a-move
just watched in on android (720p z5 compact) and it really works nicely there.
i think this actually does look like an asd demo, taking their more experimental works into account.
also kudos to amusic for the cool and clubby soundtrack.

Another ASD demo with robots :)
Always nice to see the smaller ASD prods released in between the big ones!
10 years after animal attraction ASD still delivers (and you did not? :) and support parties like TDF, all the way in Japan. (not a remote entry!)
But please .. stay on the windows platform Navis..
Also, what amusic said! :)
rulez added on the 2016-02-23 16:50:26 by magic magic
I can say that the experience of writing for the Android (through Defold - which uses Lua and GLSL) was quite straightforward. I always wanted to check what we can do on a 1) tight budget (time-wise) 2) higher resolution of the Android.

I think that the demo works really well on the smaller devices - as an experience, it's a lot better than on windows on the big screen.
added on the 2016-02-23 17:11:57 by Navis Navis
Refreshing to see this kind of stuff from ASD.

Huh? Could you please explain to me why this demo needs the rights to
- access phone status and ID
- read and modify data on the phone
- access phone accounts
- full internet access
?

I have absolutely 100% no idea :-) and I'm sorry if this is not expected or acceptable. Maybe I can try to find why and how to fix it...

(my own code does nothing with the internet or your phone account or even read your gps and other info)

@navis did the FBI ask you to build in a backdoor in Asd prods? ;)

Nice, good minimalistic track.

tried the Android version on Moto G, which has an acceptable GPU (quite mid-end) but got a hiccup in the visuals during the first 3 seconds and that made the rest of the demo completely run out of sync ;)

I like it. Not everything needs to be serious and deep. Silly works very well.
rulez added on the 2016-02-27 09:51:35 by D.Fox D.Fox
The demo is simple (because of limited engine that has to be compatible with smart-watches), but still it has good quality: music, composition, gfx and code-wise. It's fun to watch.

What I have hard time to accept is actually the story/message. It's following the bullshit internet fads along the "we should be afraid of AI" lines ***

(***) I'm totally kidding of course, as these robots are too cute to do any harm ;)
rulez added on the 2016-02-28 16:02:01 by tomkh tomkh
Runs fast on my 1080p phone. Which probably means that there are not enough polys and shaders!!1 ;) One aspect that I didn't enjoy was the too basic design of the robot(s). Conversion tools needed, I guess.
rulez added on the 2016-02-28 17:44:00 by Photon Photon
tomkh, actually the story has nothing to do with AI or machines becoming more human like. It's actually the exact opposite, i.e. humans becoming more robot like. Living on the fast lane, making short term relationships only to terminate them via social media, and breeding uncontrollably, more than this planet can handle.

So yeah, the track is not sung by robots ;)

..all in a cute wrapping paper
