Best PC release in 1991

works even with 286/10/VGA/SB!
no real dos here. xp fucks it up with strobo and dosbox - what Maali said. Neat though (=

Many tricks under the covers!

Indeed disco palette in dosbox (what goes?), will try this one later on real oldschool PC.

For Dosbox you need to set the config to 'vgaonly', otherwise it won't emulate the VGA raster/palette tricks properly.

Would have been stellar in 1991, which is kind of sad, if you think about it. We've come a long way since :)

Not bad, should have had some adlib tune though.

Surely a few cycles could've been spared for playing a little tune? Otherwise, what Preacher said :)

They could, but there's not a lot of choice in terms of 286-compatible Adlib trackers and replay routines. I tried EdLib, but it hung the entire system when linked to an exe with model small. Couldn't debug it in time, and couldn't change the model to something else in time either, because that would require rewriting too much code.
Perhaps Harekiet can help debug the EdLib routine for a final version.

It is really fine.... But... the logo looks done rahter in the hurry... not pixelized in "1991" way... am I right?

Final version released.

The final version differs from the party version in a number of ways:
- AdLib music by No-XS
- Improved logo
- Moving lightsource and a tiny bit of ambient light
- Reduced precalc time
- Code is a lot faster (should no longer crash on very slow machines, not even a 4.77 MHz 8088)
- Instead of separate binaries for 286 and 8088, there is now one binary for all
- Specify 'low' on the commandline to switch to the low-poly donut for very slow machines

AdLib \o/ nice update.

Nice little intro! :)

Palette switching fails at least on a Tseng Labs card on my XT (works fine on a Trident on the same machine though), but could very well be that the ET4000 is borked.
