Hey, you stole my idea!
At least this is more wasteful on ROM than what I was cooking up. It's simply a 22 frame 32x32 animation. I have grander ideas :)
The music sounds pretty good considering the TIA. The envelope/echo effect on the melody channel is nice, compared to the harshness of the envelope-less Slocum driver.

kewl stuff Mr.Merica.
Shame it didn't become more. A bit more content and it could've been a nice contribution to the oldskool 4k compo at Revision :)
Or Other Platform Demo Compo at Datastorm this weekend.

Already coding for it on another system :P

Yep, it is.

Wasn't an easy-way-out, though; the original plan was bresenham with rotation tables etc, but 128 bytes isn't enough to store music replayer data, stack space, and a framebuffer. There were corners that could be cut for something like that I suppose but I'm quite convinced it'd be impossible to maintain the size of the frame here. Fun fact: The original was actually 32 frames split across two banks where the replayer routine was actually stored in RAM so it didn't need to be stored in each ROM bank. Also left plenty of room for other effects. But, as stated in the readme, I really don't give a shit :) I started on the road to a big trackmo style thing but really got bored of the system.

Animation doesn't count as world's first anything but world's first animation, which it isn't. Ok music though.

Filled light-sourced cube on VCS in 1982 - and the movement was better actually. But everybody who releases something on VCS deserves respect, so piggy.

Actually, I just remembered someone on AtariAge has already done far more advanced stuff, namely rendering Elite-style ships.
That uses a 16k E7 cart though - you obviously can't fit such a large frame buffer in the vanilla 128 B.

Yeah dude!! Great to finally see you got this out ;-) I've still got various early compiles sitting on my Harmony. Can't wait for more.

A pure animation is not my definition of "demo" - even more so if it's not precalculated in the demo binary itself (which without RAM is obviously impossible on the VCS). Claiming a "world first" is, if meant seriously, really preposterous.

Too bad though that the planned trackmo around it never got finished...
