Ok I Guess, The Music Is Way Far Better Than The Production I Think.

good music, good textures, good mood, but too empty and static to give it a rulez.
at least they know the main rule'o'thumb: if you don't have any decent effect coded, at least kill someone... :D

quite nice.

It's fucking dark. I turned all my monitor controls to 100% but still can't see anything. Anyway, good demo!
added on the 2002-10-02 12:33:23 by mados mados
Yeah, it's too dark, and I think perhaps they went overboard on the blur effect, but still very nice.

I just see the splash screen and then nothing happens (win98se/athalonXP2100/geforce4/sblive-value)

sorry, nothing but a 3d scene player and some ugly blur.
thumbdown for wrong category, as a DEMO this sucks ass like.. well a typical ass-sucker. But as an ANIMATION this one is quite nice, especially liked the scene with the horse carriage.. too dark though, and a bit too obvious that no one dared to start modeling a human face, next time make a precalced animation with same level of quality. oh yes and the Ouijaboard shite rocked.
sucks added on the 2002-10-20 11:06:57 by zeroic zeroic
ok, i eventually modeled a human face, like the one used in our previous demo Moments, and for those typing some some shit like "pure 3D scene player" or so, try to code something like this, it's 100 times harder to code than something like Tesla :)
added on the 2002-11-06 15:30:46 by sHTiF sHTiF
Ok, i don't say that Tesla is bad, no no no. Or something like that tesla is easy to code, no no no :))
Tesla rocks, and i like that demo.
added on the 2002-11-06 15:32:38 by sHTiF sHTiF
Ok i know that now you will say that i'm stupid or something like that. But i have one question, only one.
Show me Accelerated demo with some decent effect ok. Everything is just player, maybe with some physics (i don't see any) or some particle engine (thats the scene player too) :)
added on the 2002-11-06 15:39:01 by sHTiF sHTiF
nice atmopshere. Nice textures and great music.
sHTiF: It feals like the coders in your group are in some kind of game developing dreams or whatever... Every coder here knows that it's quite the difference to code this and to code Tesla, and personally I would be a thousand times more proud of my self if I've made Tesla. What is an effect?? Tesla is full of them ( as every demo should be) and your production isn't, thats the difference. It's not about to code the hardest shit but to make something nice that appeals the crowds :)
rulez added on the 2002-11-06 16:33:49 by ekoli ekoli
by the way, that thumb up wasn't supposed to be there.....
added on the 2002-11-06 16:45:36 by ekoli ekoli
e-coli: are you a coder your self, i think there is no difference to move camera along a modelled 3D scene or along hundrets of alpha planes and particles (thats what tesla about) and if you look to tesla data files the "effect" with the head is precalculated :)
in 3DStudio
added on the 2002-11-07 09:49:57 by sHTiF sHTiF
ok i thumb it down if you don't want that thumb up there :) just to be honest
sucks added on the 2002-11-07 09:53:16 by sHTiF sHTiF
By the way, the reason i am making demos, is not to appeal the crowds. The reason is to appeal myself, and to bring to crowds something that is not just an additional average particle "flyer" and alpha "rotater" or so ...
I want to do demos that are not "every day productions" !
added on the 2002-11-07 10:01:00 by sHTiF sHTiF
I code myslef. The difference I see is math, big static 3d scenes can be enjoyable but never really get me going. Even if you don't see a difference between your prod and Tesla there is loads of them. Like I said, this feals like some kind of game engine and perhaps your dead proud of it but still I think that Tesla/Sunflower is better. :) Do you code? It feals like a coder would know what the difference are. Fr-08 was quite static in it scenes, it felt more like a "3d scene player" but the fact that it actually was a 64kb intro made me go nuts. Heaven Seven/Exceed is a lot more beautiful. Compare these two and perhaps youll understand what I mean.
added on the 2002-11-07 10:43:35 by ekoli ekoli
a coder saying that tesla is advanced code-wise (well, sure he could use some very complex engine in it, but iam talking about how easily you can reach the same result) should join razor1911
rulez added on the 2002-11-07 10:50:34 by Hatikvah Hatikvah
I didnt say it was advanced, I said was more entertaing to watch then their prod.
added on the 2002-11-07 10:59:02 by ekoli ekoli
Ok, as i said i like Tesla but i must say that it's really easy to code some particles and a lot of particles :) The design is far more harder to achieve in this type of demos the code is a one day work for an OpenGL/Direct3D programmer.

Ok FR-08 thats something different, static scenes, yes but they are generated with the intro Algorithms (thats what you mean, no) and thats harder (for coder) to achieve. And FR-08 has a lot of static scenes for an intro, amazing is what i say :)
Heaven Seven again something different, aspecially it's pure software, raytracing alorithms (my favourite intro, ok maybe Squish is ma favourite but Heaven Seven has great mood fo an intro).

And yes, i am a coder myself, but i was not working on Solitude as a coder :)

Ok i have something to say about that motion blur, the problem is that we coded it on my computer where i have Geforce 2 MX
and it looks nice. But we came to the party place and tried it at the compo machine where was Geforce 4 Titanium (i think) and it was so fast that the blur wasn't there at last, so we decided to rewrite the blur sets to high values. And thats the problem, the blur is good looking now on Geforce 4 but on older video cards it goes ugly and too overhelme the scene itself.

I know that it's our lazyness that we didn't make the blur on timer but sorry :(

We are currently working on version with Options and repaired blur timing, so it will be available soon (i hope:)

For the record our site is insomnia.unitra.sk not the one posted here at pouet (i tried to overwrite it, but i wasn't succesful)

best 3d flyby demo i seen in a long time.
(well, since halla i guess)
the extra blur was actually kinda nice.. gave some extra inside a cinematic world feeling to it all..
nice fitting sounds too. props to johny909

sHTiF: I' m sorry for not being constructive in my earlier posts so i'll try it now :D
I didn't mean that this is crap, it's not, It's a whole lot of hard work put into this for sure. The textures and models are all great and the music fits good to it all. The thing I don't like is the fact that it's more of a game intro then a traditional demo and my taste is more to the traditional kind. Perhaps you workin' on a game engine :)
I'll give you this thumb up for the hard work (and keep up with it)! :)

e-coil>I understand that this one is not your cup of tea. The idea behind this was to create something, what is not common in the demoscene. You now, there are lot of demos with nearly the same effects but zero atmosphere. Not to mention some story. Although we were not realy satisfied with this demo, i am stisfied that we "finished" it even though we had not much time. Also this demo is "heavy mood dependent". Believe me, if we wanted to do an "effect-based" demo, we would done it. We were not going to do a game intro. I would rather call it "short-movie". We're trying to do demos, we would like to watch, and what we miss in other demos. Not demos, we think the audience would like. Just take a look at our older demo MOMENTS. But watch it like a movie in complete darkness, alone with headphones at midnight :) and maybe then you'll understand what is it all about. If not, just ask me.
Anyway, thanks for feedback.

Ok here i am, again :)
e-coli> i understand you perfectly, we just miss the point that you like in demos (yes ?), but i think that FiRE describes our intentions in demoscene :)

Thanks for that moment you created.. This is beautifully made. Of course it's a bit clicheish in execution, with its movie trailer style, but I think it's nevertheless smart, and anyway justified. Well done atmosphere.

I gave you a thump up 3 posts ago but it don't seams to be there so I'll try it again.

sHTiF: Yes, atlast we understand each other! :D

FiRe: I'll watch moments and writes what I think of it there.

It's in the style of Moments, but I prefer Moments more. Slow, atmospheric, but I was bored of slow today. However it's very well done for it's kind. But I do prefer Moments still more..

Amazing demo!!! Totally drew me in and was really entertaining to watch!

Although this is better from a technical and graphical standpoint, I think Moments contains more tension and I prefer its unsettling twist.

But, again, this is a very absorbing demo and contains a few interesting subtleties (like the second human shadow) that makes it worth watching more than once.

Stunningly brilliant.

Moments was completely different - there you had no idea how the story is going to turn out, it had a "punchline" you didnt know about.
This demo, on the other hand, doesn't deny from the very first moment what will happen. You just don't know when, how, why. For me it built up the same amount of tension Moments did, only far different. Probably the same feeling a skydiver feels when he realizes that his parachute aint working.

And of course, NOT showing what we all know is happening gives a far bigger shock - something only masters can achieve.

I want you guys to do more stuff. Now.
