Pretty much unfinished, as I ran out of time. My planning sucks :) 1992 is piss poor - it's oldschool on new hardware, whereas it should be oldschool with bite like 1988. 2008 - I had some serious issues with the second part, and replaced everything after the sundown logo with filler.

I'll do a final in the next couple of weeks (need rest first).

Oh, and my hosting has a shitty 250mb/day download limit, so apologies if you can't get it - wait until the next day and retry. I'll try to get it hosted somewhere better soon.

Last thing - massive thanks to the guys at the party who managed to get my last minute changes put in!

Lots of nice effects and good music too. Some of the best stuff I have seen for mac yet.

Can also be downloaded from breakpoint.unterground.net.

I liked what i saw on BPTV a lot, but it keeps crashing my MacBook , which is a bit disappointing, even though the nfo says so.

Nice collection!

awesome! only uk scene can deliver such an excellent parody on demoscene aesthetics through time, at the same time being a nice product on its own, without considering the references.

A good idea, poor execution.

A good idea with good execution :)

Unfinished execution :)

I'll try to get it working on intel 950/x3100 gfx for the final. I think I can get access to hardware at work with some luck, but if it crashes it would be good to know which part.

Also, the file on the BP ftp is a zip containing both the video and the binaries for some reason. For some other reason, the binaries in that zip are a pre-release version, so please use the link at the top if you want binaries :)

Also, the video released at BP is a bit shit - I totally ran out of time, and had to produce an 8 minute video from 13 minutes of content, with no decent software to do it with. So I just deleted some boring bits, with no fades at all - it just cuts. I'll upload a full video of each section during the week.

Very nice work! Though it was maybe a bit long-winded in the compo.. I think you should've cut out some more and let people enjoy the disk in full at home.

almost felt asleep at the party. anyway i think the (empty) osx scene may appreciate the effort...

I loved it on the big screen! :) There are some pretty nice transitions and effects and I like the concept. Also, the tunes are pretty cool. I agree that it was a bit too long though.
rulez added on the 2008-03-25 11:27:58 by StingRay StingRay
Point taken about the length. I figured that as each part was effectively a demo, and i'd only be showing 2 minutes of each, it'd work out. Guess not :)

A cracking little number. So quart composer is the way forward eh?!

Sorry, download link is now 404. Apparently my hosting isn't capped at 250mb/day after all, and I've now been banned for using 750mb/day :D

yeah, i'm working on it :(

Working link (but it wasn't a good idea to include 250 Mb MOV into the archive).
Well, the disk is quite good, but the first part ("1988") slows down my Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz Macbook!
I like the latest tune ("2008") especially it's video (sorry, I mean the realtime effects).
rulez added on the 2008-03-26 16:19:38 by Manwe Manwe
The file on the breakpoint ftp contains the video, and a pre-release version of the disk (there's not much changed, just slightly altered text in the overlays). I've requested that the party version of the binaries are added to the ftp, and also requested an untergrund account, so I recommend a little patience if you don't want a 270mb download :)

Manwe: what video card do you have? and does 1998 work OK? I'm trying to figure out which parts break it on intel cards.

Oh, and if you get a nasty clicking in the audio, quit the app and relaunch.. it's a bug I found, and will fix.
added on the 2008-03-26 17:17:10 by psonice psonice
meh, this was just annoying in the compo.
sucks added on the 2008-03-26 17:18:49 by kusma kusma
Oh yeah, the 1998 part contains a pixel shader that converts the video to c64 palette. It's not too obvious, but will be in the final. It's also very inefficient, and runs all the time... some optimising to be done there :)
added on the 2008-03-26 17:19:31 by psonice psonice
Link is working, please use the download one instead of the scene.org one though unless you want the 250mb video too ;)

psonice, I use MacBook with Intel x3100 videocard.
Thanks for the "no-MOV-version", btw :)

Trace: it's leopard only, i used a lot of the new stuff in 10.5. Not sure if it would work on an ibook anyway.. there's a lot of shaders. I think most would get run in software, but it would be slooow.

doesn't do anything.. :? ..so I'll download the video!
That 1998's era music (as seen in the video file) is sooo good! And lovely effects, too! If there was a windows port, I'd grab it in a hearbeat.
